Who was Antoine Dougbe? Even the most dedicated crate-digger might go their whole life without stumbling across any of the three LPs he released in the late 1970s and early '80s. Yet all the musicians who happened to cross paths with him remember with a mixture of admiration and fear; for Antoine Dougbe was not merely one of the most inventive songwriters to emerge from the fertile music scene of Cotonou, but also a powerful Vodun initiate whose close connection to the spirit world allowed him to refer to himself as "the Devil's prime minister." In Cotonou, a city that had established itself as one of the centres of the West African music scene, the young man found himself drawn to Cuban son and rumba. But his fascination with the traditional rhythms of Benin-especially those associated with Vodun ceremonies-allowed Dougbe to take his music in directions far removed from anything happening in the Congo. Dougbe neither sang nor performed any of the main instrumental parts of his songs. It has been suggested that his involvement with Vodun-in which singing plays a crucial role in important rituals-effectively prohibited him from using his voice for anything as frivolous as a popular song. Whether driven by the thrill of the music or by fear of crossing the Devil's prime minister, Dougbe's records all feature Orchestre Poly-Rythmo playing at the absolute height of their considerable powers. Dougbe released three LPs and a handful of singles under his own name, but never quite found the audience he deserved. By the early eighties he had vanished from the music scene. Analog Africa now brings his small but extraordinary body of work to a wider audience with a double LP compilation featuring 12 songs, a whirlwind of circular guitars, synths, mesmerising layers of Afro-Cuban and Cavacha madness.

A Imitacao do Vento is the newest solo album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Mateus Moura, an artist born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Para, in the North of Brazil. Drawing from the rich musical traditions of the Amazon and northeastern Brazil, the record blends contemporary songwriting with acoustic textures, subtle electronics, and lyrical storytelling rooted in nature and memory. Across 12 beautifully arranged tracks, Mateus navigates rhythms from baiao to waltz and MPB, with intimate performances that capture both poetic depth and melodic warmth. Whether for fans of folk, world music, or independent singer-songwriters, A Imitacao do Vento delivers a compelling, immersive listening experience.

Shye Ben Tzur/Jonny Greenwood/The Rajasthan Express -"Ranjha" / Ranjha is the collaboration between award-winning composer and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, celebrated composer/musician Shye Ben-Tzur, and the Indian ensemble, the Rajasthan Express. The album is a follow-up to their acclaimed 2015 debut, Junun. While Junun was recorded in a makeshift studio within the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort in Rajasthan, India, Ranjha was created in a more intimate setting - Jonny Greenwood's studio in Oxford, England. The artists in Chimera - violinist Iva Bittova, bassist-composer Michael Bisio, flutist Steve Gorn, and singer-guitarist-composer Timothy Hill are all master musicians, innovators, and improvisors. They have deeply immersed themselves in multiple traditions and genres: streams of avant-garde jazz, Indian raga, Moravian folk music, overtone singing, as well as early and modern European classical and American folk music. Individually they have performed with a stunning array of influential creative artists, such as Fred Frith, Bang-on-a-Can All-Stars, ETHEL, Paul Winter, Jack DeJohnette, Paul Simon, David Hykes, Pauline Oliveros, Bill Frisell, Matthew Shipp, Tani Tabbal and Joe McPhee, to name a few. All this they leave at the door as they enter the shared space to meet in the moment, sharing a deep respect of each other's experience and perspective, anticipating fresh expressions of deep feeling, awestruck beauty and sheer delight. Together they explore new territory to create music that defies description.

This limited-edition 7-inch vinyl features two of Francoise Hardy's most iconic 1962 hits, "J'suis d'accord" and "Tous les garcons et les filles." Released exclusively for Record Store Day 2026, it serves as a collectible tribute to the late French ye-ye icon's enduring musical legacy.

Entre dos aguas, first issued in France in 1975, was a compilation LP that presented Paco de Lucia's greatest hits up to that point, obviously including the title tune, an iconic rumba that brought the flamenco guitarist's name to a wider audience. The album includes a variety of musical compositions, some of which are rooted in the flamenco tradition, while others are in line with the style popularly known as "Nuevo Flamenco," which was emerging at the end of the 1960s.

Released by Philips in 1973, Fuente y caudal (Source and Flow) was Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia's fifth solo LP and marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career. On this album, he reached a level of technical mastery unparalleled in the history of flamenco guitar. Only 25 years old at the time of recording, Paco de Lucia saw his fame expand far beyond Spain after the release of Fuente y caudal.

A Frauta de Pa, released in 1975 when Carlos Walker was only 19, stands as a cult masterpiece of 1970s Brazilian music. An album where MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira) sophistication meets jazz-fusion virtuosity and psychedelic imagination. Featuring an all-star cast of musicians including Joao Bosco, Helio Delmiro, Jose Roberto Bertrami (Azymuth), Gilson Peranzetta, and Roberto Quartin, the record delivers a rich, orchestral sound that continues to captivate collectors and DJs worldwide.

ROCK ME AMADEUS

Acoustic guitar masters from East and Central Africa, an expansion of Mississippi's beloved African Guitar Box project. In 1979 and 1980, a young British-Kenyan musician named John Low hit the road to learn finger-style guitar from his heroes. He traveled across Kenya, Tanzania, Congo, and Zambia. He visited giants like Jean-Bosco Mwenda, Losta Abelo, and Emmanuel Mulemena, whose records sold hundreds of thousands of copies across the continent in the 1950s and 60s. He also documented brilliant but previously under-recorded artists like Tanzania's Francis Kitime and Kenya's Mtonga Wanganangu. Regardless of status, John approached each artist humbly, as a student. He recorded in homes, village squares, and watering holes. The sessions are intimate and casual, the artists at ease. It's a transporting and profound listening experience - children laughing, glasses clinking, the thump of the Marantz cassette deck, and John's single mic moving through space, sometimes documenting the vocals, sometimes zeroing in on the right hand against the strings. Five decades later, these practice tapes provide a rare glimpse into how fingerstyle guitar was actually played for family and friends, outside the tense confines of commercial studios. Some of these songs appeared on John Storm Roberts' out-of print Original Music compilations, which inspired the African Guitar Box. Others have never been made publicly available. All have been expertly restored and remastered from the original tapes by Andrew Walter (Honest Jon's, Abbey Road). John Low's liner notes and lyric translations provide insights into the recording context, and Tanzanian music scholar John Kitime's intro gives the musicians' perspective.
