For her new hänssler CLASSIC recording "Illuminationes", pianist Angelika Nebel traverses the full spectrum of transcriptions, from the 19th-20th c., straight through to the 21st c., as well as those from many different countries, for an international and timeless vision of Bach’s music. In addition to well-known composers and arrangers of Bach, such as Liszt, Kabalevsky and Egon Petri, and three transcriptions from Ms. Nebel herself, there are also some by unknown composers. Nevertheless, their transcriptions are worthy of inclusion and offer further evidence of Bach’s stature.
