The program of this new release consists of classics of early repertoire in it’s most utilized form- dances. Between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, dances were played as entertainment for every social class. Saltarelli, pive, estampie, and standpipes are all musical forms in ternary rhythm, suitable for dynamic and jumping movements. The instrumental ensemble Aurea Proportio was founded in 1993 by a group of musicians and researchers with classical education. They deal mostly with the origins of early music, and perform with instruments built based on early models.
