The Imperial Court in Vienna was a melting pot of many cultures practicing next to each other; with the Habsburg downfall after WWI, interest in its imperial amalgam faded. With his ensemble Ars Antiqua, Gunar Letzbor directs our attention to the treasures of the Austrian Baroque, introducing on this sampler a selection of important works from its recent CD releases. These include unknown instrumental music of famous Austrians Biber, Fux and Muffat alongside sacred works by completely forgotten composers Joseph Balthasar Hochreither, Romanus Weichlein and Franz Joseph Aumann.
