The aim of Bernhard Hofstötter’s arrangement of Bach's Six Cello Suites was to make the pseudo-polyphonic mesh appear as clear and audibly distinguishable as possible. The character of the lute is thoroughly suited to the intimate dialogue of the repertoire on this album. Besides his Bach arrangements, Hofstötter choose works by two other composers: Silvius Leopold Weiss and David Kellner.
