Trumpeter Jan Allan, who turned 80 years of age on 7 Nov 2014, has performed with the most well-known musicians and singers of the jazz world: Alice Babs, Monica Zetterlund, Stan Getz and so many more. Following their early-2014 tour of Sweden, the Norrbotten Big Band and Jan Allan recorded this double-disc production, ‘Jan Allan 80’. According to Joakim Milder, NBB artistic leader, he gave a handpicked and colorful group of composers just got one directive: ”Think about Jan Allan and write a piece of music”. All the composers share a delight in and understanding of Jan’s trumpet playing.
