Hear Monrad Johansen's great chamber works! David Monrad Johansen was central to the development of a nationally oriented music during the interwar period in Norway. His Piano Quartet, Op. 26 and the incidental music for “Den store freden” (The Great Peace) was composed during this period. To this day they have just existed in manuscript form, and this recording will be the first recording ever to feature these two works. The violinist Tor Johan Bøen has made new editions of Monrad Johansen´s Piano Quartet, Op. 26 and the incidental music for “Den store freden” based on the composer´s manuscripts. As head of the ensemble Fragaria Vesca, Bøen makes sure these hitherto unknown works gets the attention they deserve when presented in inspired performances.
