Arthur Vincent Lourié (1892 - 1966) was a Russian composer who embraced the Russian Revolution but later became disenchanted and moved to the West settling in Paris. There he became a friend of Igor and Vera Stravinsky. He may have influenced Stravinsky in the adoption of the Neo-Classic style of the 1920s. In addition to being a composer, Lourié was also a painter. Born: Naum Izrailevich Luria, later changed to Artur Sergeyevich Luriye and finally Arthur Vincent Lourié. He adopted the middle name Vincent in admiration for the artist, Vincent van Gogh.
