"[A]t the heart of this program is something remarkable, six two-piano arrangements of chorale preludes and also secular music that György Kurtág made in 1991. Kurtág’s voicing is haunting, mimicking a Baroque organ in the upper registers. Here, Koroliov’s reticence works in the music’s favor, and the clean, tonally glistening textures he and his piano partner (and life partner), Ljupka Hadzigoergieva, produce register with subtle beauty."
