Art Pepper
Performer
1925–1982. American saxophonist in the West Coast Jazz tradition.
Art Pepper was a defining West Coast jazz alto saxophonist known for his lyrical yet emotionally raw style, marked by a turbulent personal life. His playing blends virtuosic technique with deep melancholy and dark introspection, particularly evident in late-career recordings like Winter Moon and Straight Life.
