This CD of a new kind allows the listener to listen to the Voices of the Ocean. Over 58 minutes you will hear the songs and calls, indeed, the language of 5 species of Cetacea. Jean C. Roche realized this recording thanks to the Marine Mammal Fund in San Francisco and it's director, Mr Stan Minasian, who supplied him with rare and beautiful sounds. With the sounds of: Killer Whale, Beluga Whale, Narwhal Whale, Humpback, Bowhead Whale and Bearded Seals.

This is a splendid contemporary interpretation of classical music from the black American heritage. Negro Spirituals, often wrongly confused with gospel, represent one of the finest forms of written music and sacred art of recent history. Canada's highly regarded independent producer Martin Duchesne made this digital recording. A magnificent tribute to the heritage of Marian Anderson and Paul Robeson.

This CD made by the famous audio-naturalist Bernard Fort, who leads the GMVL in Lyon, was constructed like a single storm moving as slowly as possible from one landscape to the next, and therefore presenting numerous variations on a single theme. We can hear it in mountains and valleys, over plains and forests, and landscapes that are either mineral or farmland, but always natural. Numerous sound recording techniques (intensity stereophony, phase amplitude, M/S stereo etc.) were used to record these eleven natural concerts, depending on the locale and context, taking great care to restore the spaces. The sounds have not been subjected to any manipulation other than selecting and assembling the sequences with great respect for their natural durations. Patrick FReMEAUX

"He was the alchemist who transformed the dark, brooding sentiment of keen, living death into ecstasy. And also the one who, in the depths of ecstasy, collected a precipitate of bitterness." Each 2 CD set edition includes liner notes in English as well as a guarantee. This 2 CD set present a selection of the best recordings by Art Pepper between 1950 and 1960.

“The manner of Bill Evans is no volatile substance: it is ventilated, ethereal. It is not vapid, but exquisite. Not precious, but refined. Cerebral? No! Meditative. Evanescent? On the con trary: what is insinuated by it leaves a lasting imprint on our awareness.” Alain GERBER

“Cannonball Adderley had to be restored to favour before he could take his rightful place in jazz’ Hall of Fame and the hearts of jazz fans everywhere. Fame itself, which har dly came easily to him, didn’t do him that justice in his lifetime.” Alain GERBER

Tatavla was the early name of a popular, highly cosmopolitan Greek enclave in Istanbul. Greek immigrants leaving Turkey took this music with them, and it evolved in exile to become the popular rebetiko genre. After the album Black Night Please Fall Over the World, which focused on traditional Hungarian music, violin virtuoso Tcha Limberger continued his search for authenticity in music, exploring the roots of forgotten popular genres as he does here, with such wonderful accompanists as the Greek accordionist Dimos Vougioukas and guitarist Benjamin Clement. Produced to the familiar high standards of U.K. independent label Lejazzetal, here the trio Tatavla offers music of infinite richness, filled with festive melodies and marked by hybrid accents from the East.

“He would always remain, with a relentless determination that was sometimes heroic, Stanislas Stanley Getz “The Steamer”; in other words, one of the most generous purveyors of beauty known to the 20th century.” Alain GERBER Fremeaux & Associes’ « Quintessence » products have undergone an analogical and digital restoration process which is recognized throughout the world. Each 2 CD set edition includes liner notes in English as well as a guarantee. This 2 CD set presents a selection of the best recordings by Stan Getz between 1952 and 1958.

With this volume Romane pays tribute to the wealth of French song: picking up melodies from his childhood and popular songs by Piaf, Distel or Trenet, the guitarist also signs some of his finest compositions. Accompanied by Christophe Cravero (some wonderful choruses on guitar and violin), Romane teams up again with fantastic rhythm partners Yayo and Fanto Reinhardt, and Pascal Berne on double bass, who have been alongside him since the “Acoustic Quartet” recording (cf. Vol.7 of the complete Romane, Fremeaux FA545). Elegant swing, an innate feel for melody and composition… they all come together to incarnate grace in making Romane a central figure in French swing jazz. His influence, in the same spirit as Django, continues its spread around the world… like excellent French cuisine! Augustin BONDOUX Four years after “Elegance”, an album that sealed their friendship and musical entente, in 2004 Romane and Stochelo Rosenberg went back into the studios with a quartet to make this “Double jeu”. Recorded with Stephane Huchard on drums and bassist Marc-Michel Le Bevillon, their album cast new foundations in the avant gardist trend that was part of gypsy swing, a genre that, at the time, was still inflexible over its traditions. Their new record was no longer “merely” a tribute to the music of Django: this was also a homage to his innovative spirit, and who to do that better than two “sacred monsters” of the genre named Romane and Stochelo Rosenberg? A must-have album for all guitar fans.

(2-CD set) "Django cut himself off from me in 1947, after returning from the United States (…) He had met with an enormous check for which only he was responsible. Upon his return, he detached himself more and more from music, realising he'd failed his "American conquest"" Charles DELAUNAY. Includes a 40 page booklet with both French and English notes.

“These two exceptional musicians are identical: they're both very demanding; they're absolutely bursting with enthusiasm; and both of them get a bit wary if you treat them like friends too quickly! I wanted to bring them together for a series of concerts at the Salle Cortot, and it was two years before the idea finally took shape. Little by little, the two of them came to trust me… Today the record has finally come out!” Franck Mossler

“When Bird left New York he was a king, but out in Los Angeles he was just another broke, weird, drunken nigger playing some strange music. Los Angeles is a city built on celebrating stars and Bird didn’t look like no star.” M. DAVIS The aim of 'The Complete Charlie Parker', compiled for Fremeaux & Associes by Alain Tercinet, is to present (as far as possible) every studio-recording by Parker, together with titles featured in radio-broadcasts. Private recordings have been deliberately omitted from this selection to preserve a consistency of sound and aesthetic quality equal to the genius of this artist.
