In 2004, Romane and Stochelo Rosenberg recorded Elegance, an album that sealed their friendship and musical partnership. Four years later, they went back into the studio with a quartet to record Double Jeu. Featuring Stephane Huchard on drums and bassist Marc-Michel Le Bevillon, the result is more than just a tribute to the music of Django, but also pays homage to his innovative spirit. This is a must-have album for all guitar fans from one of the premier independent labels of gypsy jazz.

“The first French singer-songwriter you could call genuinely inspired by jazz was this boy named Charles Trenet [...] the new heartbeat, the extraordinary joie de vivre coming from the songs that this rumpled kid chucked out by the dozen, were born of the conjunction between a remarkable poetic gift and the vitality of jazz, assimilated fully by an exquisite sensibility.” Boris VIAN (En avant la Zizique)

“Choc ‘n soul” – The title composed by Manu Dibango in 1978 is a veritable manifesto of the good word preached by Manu in his orchestral elucubrations, demonstrating the shock of the fusion between original Africa and musicgenres of Afro-America – soul, jazz, disco – which came between Manu Dibango’s success with his “Soul Makossa”, his journey to Kingston, and his Parisian recordings at the end of the Eighties. Here Manu Dibango proposes a return to 12 of his best titles released between 1978 and 1989. Soul and shock indeed." Benjamin Goldenstein & Patrick Fremeaux

Johnny Hallyday. There’s no doubt in the minds of the French: he is the most important rock artist of the 20th century. He was just 19 when he made these live recordings which translate every kilo of the talent, energy and daring which the young rocker was putting into his career debuts: pure rock ‘n’ roll. The enclosed booklet was written by Francois Jouffa, the icon’s biographer, and it details the arrival on the scene of the Star who became the “Teenage Idol” in 1962… and kept that image throughout his career. Francois Chassagnite was one of the greatest French Jazz trumpeters. He toured around the world and sat in with many of the greats, from Chet Baker to Canadian Gil Evans and Malian Salif Keita. He was a regular organizer of the famous Marciac Jazz Festival's master classes, where he used to invite Wynton Marsalis and other great US Jazz players like Terence Blanchard. Chassagnite passed away last summer and this album was his last recording session.

“Good news for lovers of Brazilian music: the cult-album by the Trio Camara, first released in 1968 on Pierre Barouh’s Saravah label, has finally been reissued. The music made by the trio of Fernando Martins, Edson Lobo and Nelson Serra is in the little-known samba jazz style, an instrumental form in parallel with the bossa nova. New listeners can now discover for themselves the kind of music that was played in the many clubs of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo between 1963 and 1967: masterful performances of standards like Baden Powell’s Berimbau or Edu Lobo’s Upa neguinho appear here alongside rarer themes such as Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Estrada do sol and João Donato’s Muito A vontade. This is popular, accessible music made by musicians of skill and sophistication... a pure marvel. Lovers of Brazilian music are lucky indeed.” Paulo MARTINS

“It would be inexact to say that you caused poetry to descend into the streets, for your prodigy is that your songs grow there as if the pavement were grass in April (…) This record is made of a gold of which you will forever remain the young and mysterious alchemist. On this day of Saint Charles, I hand it to you and embrace you.” Jean COCTEAU (giving a gold record to Charles Trenet on November 6th 1955)

“Pink Turtle uses the ingenuity of jazz and effectiveness of swing to interpret the greatest pop hits from the last thirty years. The verve of these well-known songs is heightened by the seven musicians who bring out the best of the tunes with the addition of jazz harmonies. A refreshingly fun album, far from stereotyped intellectual jazz, which takes us back to the essence of swing - true entertainment.” Benjamin Goldenstein & Patrick Fremeaux

In combining gospel’s emotion and melodies with the sensuality and arrangements of rhythm and blues, Afro- American musicians created a universal language which shook the world. Soul was inseparable from the Civil Rights struggle and it spread like wildfire in intense performances from the fabulous artists who adopted this style. With the tremendous songs included in this magnificent album, Bruno Blum tells the story of Soul’s origins, from Negro spirituals to R&B, in retracing the work of its precursors, from Ray Charles to Sam Cooke — and including the first masterpieces from Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin or Marvin Gaye. "This set brings together all the recordings by Taos Amrouche originally released on the Arion label. The 5CDs propose an unrivalled synthesis of our knowledge of the artistry and oral culture contained in these neglected gems from the Mediterranean regions: the Berber songs of Kabylia, and Spanish songs of ancient times. The Amrouche family – both Taos and her brother Jean – have enjoyed an extraordinary destiny: having perfectly assimilated French culture, they have at the same time spread and enhanced the glorious cultural heritage of their Berber ancestors. Thanks to Taos Amrouche and Laurence Bourdil-Amrouche, herdaughter and heir, these poems and songs have been saved from oblivion, as testified by this boxed-set and its 88-page booklet, a precious document for generations to come." Benjamin Goldenstein

Syncopated music has been played across the United States since the early 20th century, but swing first appeared in New Orleans. The unique style of its jazz bands, becoming a veritable trademark, was a major stepping-stone in the artistic history of America. World War II was followed by a surge of freedom as well as the search of jazz in its original form and America rediscovered this gem embedded in its history. This was the period of the New Orleans Revival and its riches are revealed by Dan Vernhettes. This vast panorama, interpreted by the greatest artists, portrays the gumbo jazz of New Orleans: ragtime, blues, marches, dance music, lighter tunes and religious hymns.

Luc Ferry is a major philosopher of our time. Also known for his political action (he was the minister for Education between 2002 and 2004), Luc Ferry has a great career as a writer and as a teacher. These skills enable him to deliver an amazingly clear-to-understand speech, exclusively recorded in studio for Fremeaux & Associes, in various set devoted to a great philosopher (Kant, Nietzsche, Heidegger) or to the philosophical links of major notions (for instance in is "Le Christianisme" boxed set). In this new release, Luc Ferry has chosen a different approach and explains the philosophical background of Mythology. In French.

They called her Lady Patachou and, in fifties’ Montmartre, her cabaret was a “must” where she used to gather all the great names whose songs she sang, from Georges Brassens and Guy Beart to Charles Aznavour and Leo Ferre. This anthology compiled by Dany Lallemand brings to light a selection of recordings made by Patachou as an icon of Parisian music-halls, a major figure combining the popular accents of Paris with the elegance of Montmartre.
