Eleonor Bindman's Bach Orchestral Suites: A Naxos Live Q+A
Our partners at Naxos bring performances by great artists to diverse audiences through their recordings. But did you know that they also create a wide array of free educational and listener engagement offerings? These multimedia efforts, from podcasts and online video channels to live-streamed interviews, illuminate the cultural backdrop and inner workings of immortal music and bring artists into contact with listeners around the world.
In December 2022, ArkivMusic and Naxos collaborated to host a Live Q&A session with pianist and arranger Eleonor Bindman. In this interview, Bindman spoke about her latest project: her piano duet arrangements of the Orchestral Suites BWV 1066-1069.
A tireless advocate of J.S. Bach's music, she has released recordings of his Partitas BWV 825-830 on Delos, and her own transcriptions of the Cello Suites and Brandenburg Concertos on Grand Piano. A passionate educator, Bindman also sells sheet music for her transcriptions on her website.
Earlier in 2022, Naxos hosted live Q+A sessions with pianists Frank Dupree and Sara Aimée Smiseth, composers Peter Boyer and William McClelland, countertenor Randall Scotting, and cello-piano duo Gabriel Schwabe and Roland Pöntinen. The recorded video from these talks lives on in perpetuity!
