A Toast to the Educators | Giving Tuesday at ArkivJazz
We launched the ArkivJazz Podcast in 2019 to bring you closer to the artists, producers, educators, and industry pros who are forging the future of the art form each day. This audio project is on a break, but we're just as committed to sharing inspiring stories of jazz leadership with our customers as we've ever been. Here on the Arkiv Blog, we're looping back to the start of the Podcast and re-featuring our second-ever episode, plus an interview from later in Season 1.
ArkivJazz is based just outside Nashville, in Franklin, Tennessee. At the end of Episode 2, you'll learn about a pillar of our local jazz community. Lori Mechem's Nashville Jazz Workshop represents just the latest accomplishment in her impressive career as a performer, educator, and organizer; thanks to initiatives like it, jazz's future looks bright. Episode 8 offers firsthand details on modern jazz education from the perspectives of a onetime student and current educational leader: respectively, podcast host Jeff Lien and Dr. Ryan Middagh of Vanderbilt University.
