On this new release, the well-known and internationally renowned The Czech Boys Choir Boni Pueri publishes the most popular pieces in their repertoire. These compositions have been regularly appearing at their concerts in Bohemia and abroad for years. Besides classical hits such as Škoda lásky, there are also contemporary and popular tunes including movie melodies and TV series music. Founded in 1982, the Czech Boys Choir Boni Pueri is one of Europe’s leading ensembles, carrying on the tradition of a choir that has been active in the Metropolitan Chapter of St Vitus in Prague since 1252. The present choir, which has 200 members ranging in age from 4 to 19, has performed more than 3,000 concerts not only in the Czech Republic, but also on tour across the globe. They also perform at important state events and international meetings and conferences.

The present release features Bohuslav Martinu’s works for cello and piano performed by Petr Nouzovský, who is recognized as one of Europe's eminent cellists of his generation, and great pianist Miroslav Sekera, who performs in Czech Republic as well as around the world. Bohuslav Martinu is one of the world-famous composers of the 20th century and his pieces for cello are imbued with unique depth and individuality. Petr Nouzovský and Miroslav Sekera recorded these two albums of unique Czech music with open-hearted insight and amazing musicality.

The present release is the world premiere recording of complete songs by Czech-German composer Hans Winterberg. Thanks to this recording you can enjoy this music for the very first time. On 2 albums, you can discover the many different moods and colors of Winterberg's writing. These songs were usually inspired by particular poets, for example Franz Werfel, Ludwig Uhland or Roderich Menzel. The performers have studied the music from Winterberg's autographs as there is still no modern critical edition, which is very unique.

This release features the String Sextet in D minor, “Souvenir de Florence” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as well as the well-known Verklärte Nacht by Arnold Schoenberg. Dedicated to the St. Petersburg Chamber Music Society, Tchaikovsky wrote his Sextet in D minor in the summer of 1890 after being nominated as an honorary member of the organization. The work is subtitled Souvenir de Florence because he sketched the principal themes while visiting Florence, Italy. Schoenberg’s one-movement Verklarte Nacht is considered his earliest important work and was inspired by Richard Dehmel’s poem of the same name. Recorded live in Rudolfinum Suk Hall, Prague, these works are performed by Jan Mrácek, Markéta Vokácová - violin; Kristina Fialová, Karel Untermüller - viola; Petr Nouzovský, Ivan Vokác - cello.

Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet plays charming music for wind instruments and piano - for this time they play together with one of the most renowned Czech classical pianists - Ivan Klánský. The repertory of recording is very colorful and inspiring. To put Mozart, Martinu and Poulenc side by side seems entirely natural in programme design terms. Both Martinu (1890-1959) and Poulenc (1899-1963) had found in Mozart one of the main founts for their own neoclassical music. The recording is opened by Mozart's Piano Quintet in E flat major for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn and piano. Sextet FP 100 by Francis Poulenc for wind quintet and piano is imbued with a typical Parisian nonchalance, French colouring and with Poulenc's mischievousness balanced out with his firm faith. Bohuslav Martinu's Sextet seems to be more like a suite (5 parts composition), but the music of each of the movements is very original and enjoyable. Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet with Ivan Klánský are presenting us highly professional and truly enjoyable interpretation of all these pieces.

This new album from notable Czech mezzosoprano Eva Garajová with great pianist Miroslav Sekera presents Slovak Songs by Czech composer Vítezslav Novák (1870-1949). Slovak Songs is released on these two albums as a world premiere and it shows the versatility of the composer's creative profile as well as the amazing musicality of both performers. Eva Garajová is considered to be one of the greatest performers of song literature of her generation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Her highly authentic recordings for music publisher Arco Diva have also raised attention on the international music scene.

This release features unique and colorful orchestral works by three composers of the 19th and 20th century - Carl August Nielsen (Aladdin Suite op. 34), Josef Bohuslav Foerster (Liebeslieder op. 96) and Joseph Labitzky (Karlsbader Walzer op. 107). Foerster's Liebeslieder (Lovesongs) are performed by Czech renowned mezzosoprano Ester Pavlu as the world premiere recording. Ester Pavlů is a graduate of the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague. Ester Pavlů has collaborated with many leading Czech orchestras such as the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Orchestra FOK, the PFK – Prague Philharmonia and conductors – Jiří Bělohlávek, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Heiko Mathias Förster, Marc Kominen, Pietari Inkinen, Debashish Chaudhuri etc. She performs both in the Czech Republic and all over Europe.

“Schmückstücke” represents a colorful combination of multi-vocal polyphony, Spanish neoclassicism and Brazilian folklore. The name of the album – “Schmückstücke“, which means “Gems,“ represents the idea of reflecting the personal intentions of the owner, just like the compositions reflect the personal intentions to their creators. The first composer on this album is Heitor Villa-Lobos, a violoncellist of Brazilian origin. His Five Preludes written in 1940 draw chiefly on the folk music of Brazil. The second composer, Joaquín Rodrigo, a Spanish piano virtuoso, drew his inspiration from Falla‘s ballet “El amor brujo“. The work contains two expressive sections entitled Invocation and Dance. Last is Johann Sebastian Bach with Sonata in G minor (BWV 1001). This piece was written for solo violin, so The Fugue is a technical challenge, especially since the G minor key is not suited to the guitar. The guitarist Eileen Baum was born in Berlin. She studied in the class of Prof. Raineer Feldman for five years at the Berlin University of the Arts. In the guitar duo category she won the first prize at the “Jugend musiziert“.

The contents of this release present a selection of roughly a century of Czech choral works performed by Prague Mixed Choir and soloists. The wealth of choral works left to us by Czech composers is very rich and amazing - this new album features pieces of Antonín Dvorák, Vítezslav Novák, Bohuslav Martinu and Zdenek Lukáš. Prague Mixed Choir has long been one of the top Czech non-professional choirs. It has enjoyed much success at home and abroad and has won several awards at prestigious choral competitions, including the international competition Praga Cantat. In addition to its domestic concerts, the choir proudly performs Czech music on foreign concert tours, of which it has completed more than sixty to date. These include visits to most European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel, China, and Egypt.

The Czech Philharmonic Cimbalom Ensemble originated from a group of orchestra members who share passion for folk music and occasionally play it to give joy to themselves as well as their friends and supporters. They gradually started to perform in public- at a joint concert with Bobby McFerrin in Rudolfinum, at social events with orchestra attendees, and at other concerts in various places around the country. Their concert programs are unique- they usually combine folk music with classical music in their own arrangements. One of the paths chosen by the ensemble is the exploration of works by famous composers which were inspired by folk music. It comes as no surprise that each of the composers explored on this release has a different approach to folk and national music, and reflects it in their compositions in varying depth. These compositions have become a source of inspiration for many generations of musicians. The Czech Philharmonic Cimbalom Ensemble uses these scores as a launch pad, but strives to approach them with new ideas, invigorating the pieces and working with their own arrangements.

This new recording of Duo Beautiful Strings (Monika Urbanová - violin and Hedvika Moussa Bacha - harp) presents recordings of varied repertoire, ranging from baroque music to the present. The album opens with Josef Suk's Fairy Tale, thereafter Duo moves to 20th century music with D. Henson-Conant's Baroque Flamenco and Schindler's List of John T. Williams. The next "Žižkov Suite", contemporary composition by O. Urban, was written especially for Duo Beautiful Strings. The last two pieces take us back to 20th century - Fratres by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and at the very end the artists have chosen Piazzolla's well known work The History of Tango.

ArcoDiva’s new release presents oboe music of "a Moravian in Vienna" - Paul Wranitzky (1756-1808). In his day, Paul Wranitzky was one of the most highly regarded musicians in Europe. Moravian by birth, the composer moved to Vienna as many aspiring musicians did, and quickly achieved status as a remarkable and versatile composer of operas, chamber music, and symphonies. You can enjoy the world premieres of Wranitzky's Works for Oboe, delightfully interpreted by Wranitzky Kapelle (Marek Štilec - conductor). The oboe parts are played by eminent oboist Vilém Veverka.

For her recording debut Jana Šrejma Kacírková has chosen a relatively little known and rarely recorded repertoire of songs by Czech 20th century composers, mostly on Czech and folk texts. The song cycles as well as individual songs she has picked were written during a period of nearly 70 years, beginning in 1907 when Otakar Zich's oldest cycle Písne a písnicky (Songs and Ditties) was written, and spanning to 1973 when Zdenek Blažek composer Sedm písní v lidovém tónu (Seven Songs in Folk Tone). Jana Šrejma Kačírková was born in České Budějovice. In 2006 she graduated from the Prague Conservatory. During her studies, she won a number of awards at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary.

ArcoDiva presents this new unique album of Dvořák's unreleased pieces. Despite the fact that at the moment there are many recordings of piano works by Antonín Dvořák, for whatever reason some compositions have never been included on these releases. We are now gladly presenting you those pieces for the first time on a publicly released album. All of the compositions are played by Tomáš Víšek.

Víšek is one of the most significant Czech pianists of his generation. Born in 1957, he studied at the Prague Conservatory (prof. V. Kameníková, Z. Kožina) and the Prague Academy of Arts (AMU) – first under prof. J. Páleníček and then under prof. Z. Jílek with whom he continued post-graduate studies in 1990–1993. In 2017, he obtained the Ph.D. title at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague (his dissertation was titled “Attraction and Problems of the Antonín Dvořák ́s Piano Works”).
