LOST RIVER

Two CD set. This recording of Keith Jarrett's extraordinary 2006 solo performance at Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice finds Jarrett entering one of Italy s most famous classical venues and channeling the flow of inspiration to shape something new. In this case, a suite of eight spontaneously created pieces referencing everything from the blues to atonality to heart-rending ballads. From the first flurry of notes, it is a consistently captivating journey. Release of La Fenice is timely: The 62nd International Festival of Contemporary Music of the Biennale di Venezia has honored Keith Jarrett with it's Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. It's the first time that a jazz musician has received this award, which has previously been given to contemporary composers including, in recent decades, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Gy�rgy Kurt�g, Helmut Lachenmann, Sofia Gubaidulina and Steve Reich.

2019 debut album from an incredible young artist who has been omnipresent on acclaimed recent albums by Makaya McCraven (Universal Beings), Walter Smith III (In Common), Marquis Hill (Modern Flows, Vol. 2), and James Francies (Flight). Milt Jackson was a formative influence, Bobby Hutcherson passed him some sage advice, and Stefon Harris was his mentor and teacher. Now Joel carries the Blue Note vibraphone legacy into the future on an album that finds him exploring the formative stuff.

2019 career spanning collection celebrating Nat King Cole's 100th birthday, featuring his most well-loved signature songs, including 'Unforgettable,' 'L-O-V-E,' 'Mona Lisa' and featuring a newly recorded duet of 'The Girl from Ipanema' duet with Grammy-winning artist Gregory Porter.

2017 release. Over several summers Trio Mediaeval and trumpeter Arve Henriksen spent many days together by the beautiful Dalsfjorden on the Norwegian west coast, and it was there that most of the music for this recording was born. Fascinated and inspired by Icelandic sagas, beautiful chants, folk songs, religious hymns and fiddle tunes, the quartet has arranged a unique set of songs where improvisation, mediaeval and traditional music from Iceland, Norway and Sweden meet the present. The singers and trumpeter have often performed in live settings with the collaboration reviewed by The Guardian as a richly musical and imaginative encounter. R�mur is their first extensive collaboration on disc and was recorded in February 2016 at Munich's Himmelfahrtskirche, produced by Manfred Eicher.

2020 release. Elina Duni and Rob Luft's programme of songs of love and exile has been gathering momentum since 2017, when the Albanian-Swiss singer and the British guitarist began their collaboration. Along the way they have been augmented by distinguished guests, flugelhornist Matthieu Michel & pianist/percussionist Fred Thomas here making significant contributions to the overarching concept. The migration crisis, a theme explored on Elina's Partir album, is again a central issue, so too ecological concerns.

Original soundtrack to the 2015 motion picture. For the 24th movie in the James Bond oeuvre, Spectre, Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes has again enlisted six-time Grammy winner Thomas Newman (Skyfall, American Beauty) to write a breathtaking original score. The soundtrack has the added bonus of an instrumental version of the new Bond theme song, "Writing's On The Wall." The Spectre theme song will be sung by fellow multiple Grammy-winner Sam Smith, the first time a male has sung the theme song since Thunderball.

The Suspended Harp of Babel features revelatory performances of the choral music of Estonian composer Cyrillus Kreek (1889-1962).

Kreek's pieces, incorporating graceful settings of psalms and folk hymns, are juxtaposed here with instrumental fantasias and interludes created for this recording by Marco Ambrosini. Under the direction of Jan-Eik Tulve, the Vox Clamantis choir whose previous ECM recordings have addressed works of Arvo Prt, Erkki-Sven Tr and Helena Tulve as well as Gregorian chant prove to be ideal interpreters of a music poised between old and new.

The Suspended Harp of Babel was recorded in Tallinn's Transfiguration Church in August 2018.

Spyro Gyra returns with first new album in 6 years. Inventive jazz covers of vinyl-era pop favorites.

Spyro Gyra's new release ''Vinyl Tap'', their first album of new material in six years, is sure to excite their worldwide fan base as well as to bring new listeners into the fold.

Never content to rest on their prodigious work of the past, they have once again challenged themselves to apply their iconic sound to an idea that makes this release stand out from all of its predecessors. With ''Vinyl Tap'', they have decided to craft an entire album of inventive jazz covers from pop favorites from the vinyl era. But these versions of familiar tunes will surprise the listener as well as entertain them. Whether it's turning Cream's ''Sunshine of Your Love'' into a Latin big band sound or making a tender ballad out of the Beatles' ''You've Got to Hide Your Love Away'', this release will impress at every turn. They weren't satisfied with just turning Johnny Rivers' 1960's hit ''Secret Agent Man'' into a rollicking party jam. They added an uptempo melody from ''Alfie's Theme'' to make something brand new, ''Secret Agent Mash''. There are also more conventional approaches with faithful versions of songs like War's ''The Cisco Kid'' and the Doobie Brothers' ''What a Fool Believes''. Spyro Gyra's haunting version of Blind Faith's ''Can't Find My Way Home'' is sure to become a fan favorite.

CD reissue. John Abercrombie/Marc Johnson/Peter Erskine is a live album by jazz guitarist John Abercrombie with bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Peter Erskine that was recorded in 1988 in Boston and released by ECM Records in 1989.

Legendary labels Decca Records and Blue Note have joined forces for Blue Note Re: imagined; a brand-new collection of 16 classic Blue Note tracks, reworked and newly recorded by a selection of the UK scene's most exciting young talents.
