In an attempt to unite to very different worlds, Jewish music and jazz, Paul Green brings us Music Coming Together. Virtuoso clarinetist Paul Green has arranged all of the pieces on this album to be performed by Two Worlds. Jazz music, although more obviously improvisational, draws some similarities to klezmer music. Green seamlessly melds the two together to form the inventive arrangements on this album.

Simca Heled, Live II, finds the acclaimed veteran Israeli cellist performing against three differing backgrounds five works of music originally for, or so arranged, the cello. Schubert’s Arpeggione and François Couperin’s Pieces en concert feature the Israel Sinfonietta and Mendi Rodan; Boccherini’s Adagio from his Cello Concerto in B flat features the Israel Philharmonic and Sidney Harth; Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne features long-time partner, pianist Jonathan Zak and a short solo cello piece by Leib Ailenberg, Lelero, completes the CD.

The Canadian violin virtuoso, author, and chamber musician Steven Staryk's performing career has encompassed half a century. A child prodigy, he served as concertmaster of the Royal Philharmonic (where he was the youngest concertmaster appointment in history at 24), along with The Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, the Chicago Symphony, and the Toronto Symphony. In the early 1950s during the McCarthy era, Staryk was a part of the group coined the 'Symphony of Six', denied entry to the U.S. for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's tour. Volume 7 of this ongoing and welcome retrospective brings us live remastered recordings of Staryk's sensitive and inquisitive playing with Schumann's Concerto in D Minor, Walton's Concerto and Mendelssohn's Concerto in E Minor and provides more evidence that this retrospective is an overdue one.

Diana Jaworska brings us Frederic Chopin's 24 Preludes on this new release. Now living in France, Jaworska was born in Poland in 1968 and has worked her way into the Classical music world with her eloquent musicality.

Pianist Richard Cionco – praised by Donal Henahan of the New York Times for his “sensitive pianism” – made his orchestral debut at the age of nine, and has since performed with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and the Seijo Symphony of Tokyo. He is currently a faculty member at California State University at Sacramento and is a Steinway artist.

Violinist Masha Lankovsky and pianist Byron Schenkman perform a program of late-Romantic and early modern Russian works for violin and piano. Violinist Masha Lankovsky enjoys a versatile career bridging the worlds of performing and teaching, collaborating with contemporary composers and reviving little-known treasures from the past. Pianist Byron Schenkman’s playing has been described as “sparkling,” “elegant,” and “insightful” by no less an authority than the New York Times.

These are major modern compositions for Saxophone Quartet. These works should be heard by all fans of classical saxophone music. The Sempre Saxophone Quartet is a truly virtuosic Saxophone Quartet.

Carl Maria von Weber wrote some of the great piano works of the late 1700s and early 1800s. Here they are played on a fortepiano appropriate to the works that is owned by Christopher Hogwood. Hogwood joins Cumming in The Sic Pieces, Op. 10.
