This landmark album, originally released as Columbia 33CX 1415, features David Oistrakh in two cornerstone works: Tartini's Devil's Trill Sonata and Mozart's Violin Sonata in B-flat major, K. 454. Available for the first time on vinyl in stereo, this album benefits from the 2024 remastering from the original tapes made for the Oistrakh / The Warner Classics Edition box. As a bonus, the release includes Debussy's Clair de lune, taken from Oistrakh's Encores album.

Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto; Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto - CD - STEREO � RECORDED IN 1958 Christian Ferras, like Yehudi Menuhin, was a pupil of George Enescu. Born in France in 1933, he performed as a young man with such figures as Menuhin, Pablo Casals, Wilhelm Kempff and Karl B�hm, going on to become one of Herbert von Karajan's favourite violinists. His career was cut short by depression, but this 1958 recording of the Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn concertos shows his artistry - remarkable for it's precision and uncontrived beauty - in all it's youthful glory.
