In recent years the choral music of America has become increasingly popular. 'The Road Home' presents a small survey of some of the lesser-known gems of the repertoire. Founded in 2014, The Willow Consort is an exciting new chamber choir based at The University of York directed by Danny Purtell. They perform a wide range of repertoire, from Renaissance to contemporary works. All of their singers have been hand-picked and sing with some of the top amateur and professional choirs in the country, including I Fagiolini, Genesis Sixteen, The Carice Singers, Renaissance, The National Youth Choir of Great Britain and many more. Explore this debut album by Lisa Archontidi-Tsaldaraki & Panayotis Archontides, which brings together both well and lesser-known repertoire for violin and piano from the first half of the 20th Century.

The Book of Psalms is an ancient corpus of 150 texts exploring thanksgiving, lamentation, penitence, and spirituality, which have significantly influenced mythical and secular poetry. Including several premiere recordings, this album features well-loved settings of these treasured words, together with fresh compositions by emerging composers.

This CD recording is part of the Henry Aldrich Choral Project, an ongoing research project to bring original choral works by Henry Aldrich to a wider audience through the creation of modern performing editions and CD recordings. Edited by Dean Jobin-Bevans, Professor of Music at Lakehead University, Canada, the collection includes verse and full anthems, choral arrangements, recompositions, and occasional music. Each of the choral scores has been edited to include standardized barring and time signatures, modern vocal clefs, organ reductions, and instrumental parts for accompaniment.

I composed I saw Eternity one evening in 2010, after reading Henry Vaughan's poem of the same name earlier that day. Since then, I have written four further works which reference musical themes of this piece. These are all brought together with Bright Apollo on this album, alongside some of my other choral music, to depict a journey from darkness to light. The Phoenix Consort have warm and resonant lower voices, whilst the upper voices soar majestically in higher notes. This is exactly the sound I had envisaged when writing this music.
