Tamás Fejes was born into a family of musicians in Szeged, Hungary. At the age of ten he won second prize in the ‘János Koncz’ national violin competition. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and while there gave numerous recitals and made several Radio and TV appearances. After graduation, a scholarship enabled him to continue his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Tamas has led and co-led various orchestras in Germany, continuing to perform recitals, concertos and chamber music concerts in the UK, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, USA and Hungary. He was a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, but is currently the assistant leader of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and also part-time tutor in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Tamás Fejes writes: “The sonatas and partitas have been an integral part of my musical development. These works have been a source where I find the essence of violin playing. These are pieces of sublime and intimate creations, bringing emotional and intellectual nourishment.”

Love's Philosophy

Juozas Gruodis (1884-1948) was one of the most eminent and original Lithuanian composers of the first half of the 20th century. His emergence into the musical life of the time was as a promoter of progressive artistic ideas and, as such, he was determined to raise the level of the budding Lithuanian professional music scene to European standards. Gruodis' musical career spanned almost five decades, from the years prior to the declaration of Lithuania's independence in 1918 to the beginning of the Second Soviet Occupation in 1944.

This CD includes a popular collection of highlights and virtuoso short-form compositions for violin and piano, plus some new arrangements for viola and piano.

The debut recording for Discovery Music from French pianist Magdalena Zuk! In 1999, she was the winner of the French Government Scholars' Concerto Competition and made her Paris debut as a soloist with Mozart's Piano Concerto in B flat major K595 at the Grand Amphitheatre de la Sorbonne. In 2005, she was awarded First Prize from the Conservatoire National of Versailles at the Postgraduate Piano Performance with Fran�ois Chaplin. The same year, she entered the Royal College of Music in London studying Piano Performance with Kevin Kenner and Composition for Screen with David Burnand.
