10 of the 13 tracks were recorded live in the Chicago area last year. The John Burnett Orchestra specializes in all forties style big band swing and current big band jazz charts. John hails from England and attended the Royal Academy of Music. He is currently morning host of an exciting jazz radio show on WDCB, Public Radio from the College of DuPage, IL. "In the Mood", One O'Clock Jump", "In a Mellow Tone" and ten more songs. With guest artist Buddy DeFranco. Traditional jazz clarinetist John Skillman is the leader of the Barb City Stompers in Dekalb, IL (where barb wire was invented). He also leads the New Orleans Nighthawks in Florida and the co-leader of the Coast to Coast Jazz Band. For the past 31 years, he has been the clarinetist in the Buck Creek Jazz Band. He also is the clarinetist for both the Chicago Hot Six Jazz Band, and for the CanAmGer Jazz Band. His style ranges from downtown New Orleans to Chicago to Swing. John Skillman - clarinet, Roy Rubinstein - trombone, Larry Rutan - guitar, Roger Hintzsche - bass, Aaron Puckett - drums, Diana Skillman - vocals (on two songs).

Formed in 1999 this orchestra is comprised of topnotch Chicago musicians and features guest vocalist Frieda Lee. This live recording was captured at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, IL and the band is joined by special guest trumpeter Randy Sandke. Julian Lage, Gyan Riley Julian Lage and Gyan Riley have a magical rapport, a deep mutual respect, and have recorded some of Zorn's most melodious and intimate compositions. In addition to the many books of music written for their trio with Bill Frisell, they have also worked together as a duo on The Bagatelles (2015), Midsummer Moons (2017), Book Beri'ah (2019), and Quatrain (2023). For this fifth duo CD Zorn turns again to William Shakespeare for inspiration and has composed a varied collection of ballads, dances, lullabies, and fantasies that will delight, stimulate, and inspire. Her Melodious Lay contains nine poetic, through-composed pieces that blend classical, folk, jazz, film music, and more into a strikingly dramatic musical vision. Modern guitar music at it's very best!

HANNIGAN SINGS ZORN VOLUME TWO - ARCHIVAL SERIES

John Zorn - HERMETIC ORGAN VOLUME 11 - FOR TERRY RILEY / This newest edition of The Hermetic Organ is a beautiful and evocative tribute to one of Zorn's biggest mentors, the pioneer West Coast visionary, Terry Riley. Performed at San Francisco's historic Grace Cathedral during the epic concert series presented by Fred Barnes at the Great American Music Hall in September 2023 for Zorn's 70th birthday, this is one of the most touching and personal of all Zorn's organ recitals. Present in the audience were a large number of the composer's closest and oldest friends, and as a result the music has a deep spiritual edge. Looming over much of this music is the spirit of Terry Riley, one of Zorn's early influences, and one of his dearest friends. Magical!

Recorded at the Grote Kerk in Den Bosch as part of Zorn's 70th birthday celebration at November Music in Den Bosch, this exciting performance pays tribute to one of Zorn's seminal influences-the 15th century painter Hieronymus Bosch. Performing on two different organs simultaneously, running from one to the other, this is one of the most bizarre installments in the entire Hermetic Organ series. The CD begins with a rare private performance of Zorn alone in the church exploring and stretching the organ's capabilities. For the evening performance, A Pilgrimage Through Hell, Zorn's dear friend and colleague of over thirty years John Medeski joins as his organ assistant, and the two of them literally pull out all the stops!

BIG GUNDOWN 15TH ANNIVERSARY (SPECIAL EDITION)

Inspired in part by the Goldberg Variations and Schoenberg's solo piano music, Suite for Piano is Zorn's very personal take on some of the oldest traditional classical forms. It is performed here by one of the most dedicated, virtuosic, and passionate interpreters in the Zorn universe, Brian Marsella, whose educational experience (too "jazz" for the classical world and too "classical" for the jazz world) makes him the perfect interpreter of Zorn's cross-pollinating musical poetics. Accompanied by the telepathic rhythm section of Jorge Roeder and Ches Smith (Heaven and Earth Magick) this is a beautiful and soulful program of music for the classic instrumentation of piano, bass, and drums.

BAR KOKHBA

On March 6, 1963, John Coltrane and his Classic Quartet - McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones - recorded an entire studio album at the legendary Van Gelder Studios. This music, which features unheard originals, was finally released 55 years later in June of 2018. To commemorate this event, we are releasing a very unique and collectable 12' Die Cut single on orange vinyl which features two very distinctive triangular die cuts directly into the vinyl.
