Emocion is the debut release of German-Chilean soprano Carolina Ullrich and Brazilian pianist Marcelo Amaral featuring works by Fernando J Obradors, Reynaldo Hahn, Richard Strauss and Francisco E. Braga. Carolina Ullrich is a winner of the 2008-09 YCA International Auditions in New York and the 2008 European YCA Auditions in Leipzig. She has appeared in numerous roles on the opera stage and pursues a busy schedule of song recitals and appearances with symphony orchestras throughout Europe.

National identity in music: this is the theme of the third Genuin release by the splendid vocal formation Ensemble Nobiles. The program features rugged, beautiful, and truly unique works from Norway, Bohemia, and Finland. The composers Antonín Dvořák, Edvard Grieg, and Jean Sibelius are the fathers of the musical culture of their respective countries, each with his own unmistakable language that suffuses every note of this refined and sophisticated production. For the first time, the five singers from Leipzig are accompanied by two world-class partners on the piano in a number of selections on the album. Representing the most promising of the younger generation of performers, both German soprano Katharina Persicke and pianist, Nicholas Rimmer have garnered much attention and increasing acclaim with their respective performances and recordings with each of them in much demand with Persicke, slated to make her Bayreuth debut in 2016. Both prove equal to these youthful lieder of Richard Strauss taken from the first part of his impressively long composing career.

Already their fourth Genuin production, the Japanese flutist Atsuko Koga and her partner, Ukrainian cellist Georgiy Lomakov are both winners of numerous competitions. Alongside the blend of duos by Mozart, Bach and Bozza are solo pieces for the two instrumentalists. The two works for flute solo by Fuminor Tanada and Rika Suzuki are dedicated to Atsuko Koga and are world premiere recordings. Ms. Koga has been heard as soloist with orchestra throughout Japan and continental Europe. Georgiy Lomakov's studies have taken him to both Germany and Boston's New England Conservatory.

The young cellist Christoph Heesch is releasing a revolutionary album on GENUIN. The prizewinner of the Fanny Mendelssohn Sponsorship Award plays four cello concertos from 1924-25, each of which is a sensation in itself. The composers Paul Hindemith, Jacques Ibert, Bohuslav Martinu and Ernst Toch wrote exciting music for an exciting time: they broke all conventions and put the solo instrument and orchestra in a new relationship to each other. Christoph Heesch throws himself into these virtuoso, melodious, cumbersome works with verve. In short: absolutely worthwhile works that you do not want to listen to anywhere else than from this release. Christoph Heesch is one of the most exciting artists of his generation. Born in Berlin in 1995, he is currently studying at the Berlin University of the Arts with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt. He was previously a student of Jens Peter Maintz. A solo cellist of the Esperanza Ensemble and the Eroica Berlin ensemble, he combines insights of historically-informedj performance practice with modern instruments.

For more than thirty years there had not been an individual prizewinner in the discipline of horn at the German Music Competition, that is, until Tillmann H�fs came from Hamburg in 2017. He won the hearts of the audience and literally blew the jury against the wall. His qualities, technical superiority, and great musical genius also distinguish his GENUIN debut album, which was produced in the Primavera series in cooperation with the German Music Council. H�fs shows the entire breadth of his youthful, slim yet festive horn playing with works by Richard Strauss, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paul Hindemith and J�rg Widmann. Outstanding repertoire and interpretation! Tillmann Hofs grew up in a family of musicians and had already learned to play the trumpet as a very young child. It was on this instrument that he won first prize at the national level in the competition "Jugend musizeiert" and scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the German public service broadcaster NDR, among other awards. In 2011, he switched to the horn and again won the "Jugend musiziert" National Prize along with several special prizes. Since 2015 he has been studying at the Berlin University of the Arts with Christian-Friedrich Dallmann.

Jennifer Lim presents a quiet, introspective piano album with GENUIN: just in time for Valentine's Day, her recording of Romantic works such as Liszt's Liebestraum, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and Debussy's Clair de Lune is being released. Lim's transparent playing allows these classics to radiate from within, lending them contours so that the well-known works receive a new glow. Several nocturnes and a small, fine Andantino by Brahms round off a program that, according to the interpreter's wishes, allows us to travel "into the night" - Into it's magic, mysterious darkness. Having started to play the piano before the age of five, Korean-Canadian pianist Jennifer Lim made her first public appearance one year later and came into the spotlight when she captured the Grand Prize at the Korea Times National Music Competition at age eight. She studied privately with Jane Coop and Anton Kuerti in Canada, and with Peter Serkin at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was awarded the coveted Rachmaninoff/Festorazzi prize. She then completed her master's degree at The Juilliard School in New York City as a prot�g�e of the legendary pianist Bella Davidovich.

The timeless theme of love stands at the center of the Dresden Philharmonic’s first concert of the season with its new Principal Conductor Michael Sanderling. The live recording of the concert now being released on the GENUIN label begins with Pelléas et Mélisandeby Gabriel Fauré. Selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet bring the program’s theme of star-crossed lovers full circle. Elements of Italian folk music repeatedly shine through in Tchaikovsky’s brilliantly orchestrated Capriccio italien. Based on the model of his older Russian colleague, Glinka, Tchaikovsky’s rendering is brimming over with new and original thoughts, which capriciously dance from one theme to the next and, after all manner of transformations, culminate in a rollicking finale.

What a development the oboe has had since it was mainly responsible for pastoral moods or laments! At GENUIN, Juri Vallentin captures the entire timbre of a modern instrument on a recording. The prizewinner of the 2017 German Music Competition and other major competitions demonstrates the oboe's rich tone in interaction with wonderful chamber music partners. A real bridge over the centuries: sparkling baroque music of Pez and Couperin meets exciting sounds of our days from Hosokawa or Erkoreka. Juri Vallentin started his musical education early at the age of five by taking singing lessons and he switched to the oboe later on. He studied at the Nuremberg Hochschule f�r Musik and at the prestigious Paris Conservatoire, where he was the first external student to be directly admitted to the master's degree program and graduated with highest honors. As a student, he was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and nowadays, he makes guest appearances as principal oboe at the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Bamberger Symphoniker and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, amongst others. Since 2015, he is principal oboe of the Nieders�chsisches Staatsorchester Hannover at the Hanover State Opera.
