Many devoted music fans have been anticipating the new GENUIN CD release by concert accordionist Viviane Chassot. Chassot interprets the pieces of the Pièces de Clavecinas well as two complete suites with airy fleetness, power and verve. The rustling and fluty tones, the hissing and crashing sounds – the courtiers around Louis XV would have been thrilled by the panoply of color in this performance of unbelievably modern music.

Berlin Counterpoint is the name of this multinational ensemble made up of virtuoso wind players now starting on its international career. The young musicians, winners of the 2013 Usedom Music Prize, here present their GENUIN debut CD. This new double CD of the Artist Consort series is dedicated to the great pianist Sebastian Benda and comprises recordings from 1961-1994. Experience not only irreplaceable recordings, but also the passionately felt music by Benda's contemporaries Villa-Lobos and Martin, as well was Beethoven, Schubert and others.

Following her highly praised GENUIN debut (Fanny Hensel, The Year), the organist and pianist (here on fortepiano) Els Biesemans presents a CD of rare Liszt piano transcriptions. The program consists of Mendelssohn, Chopin (Six Chants Polonais) and Schubert, including twelve songs from the haunting song cycle Winterreise and Mendelssohn’s Auf Flügeln des Gesanges (On Wings of Song). Concluding the program is a Lisztian original, the brief but beautiful Liebesträume, the third of three nocturnes for solo piano.

It sounds like being in a dreamland when Icelandic tenor Benedikt Kristj�nsson sings folksongs from his homeland. For his first GENUIN album, the first-prize winner of the Greifswald International Singing Competition and Audience Award winner of the Leipzig Bach Competition has teamed up with the sought-after accompanist Alexander Schmalcz. Schmalcz congenially tunes into in Kristj�nsson's nebulous landscapes when the singer juxtaposes the old melodies, sung a cappella, with Schubert's Romanticism. A different language, a different time-but the same feelings and human destinies! Full of deep earnestness, a fine sense of sound and artistic unanimity: a moving duo!

One of the Netherlands’ foremost violinists,Yvonne Smeulers presents a programme of Eugene Ysaye’s Six Sonatas for Solo Violin. The recording is made on a Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin from 1785. This disc includes a bonus video of Smeulers speaking about the sonatas.

The young pianist Yukeong Ji has already had an impressive career. However, despite all the prizes and hymns of praise from the critics, she does not lose her footing. Her debut album, featuring extremely rare repertoire by Uzong Choe, Toru Takemitsu, Bertold Hummel, Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen, proves this. We experience fascinating reflections in this music, which sheds new light on other works of music or traces non-musical contents. Yukeong Ji plays crystal clear and with broad phrases. The young clarinetist Christoph Schneider is not only the 1st solo clarinetist of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, but also winner of numerous prizes (such as the ARD Music Competition and the Concours International "Henri Tomasi"). And his GENUIN debut release as a duo with the equally highly acclaimed pianist Yuliya Balabicheva demonstrates why: this is playing at the highest level, featuring chamber music performed with great sensitivity. From classics such as Weber's Grand Duo to adaptations such as Beethoven's Spring Sonata to new music - and even by the musician himself: Schneider's crazy virtuoso "Konstrukt" experiences it's world premiere recording on the present release. More of it!

A brilliant orchestra and an excellent conductor: When such a pairing is made for a Bruckner symphony, you can expect something special. The Linz master's sweepingly radiant eighth symphony is in the best hands with Hartmut Haenchen and the Royal Danish Orchestra from Copenhagen. With a beautiful sound and a powerful punch, as well as with fast tempos that blow every speck of dust out of the grandiose score, this is a masterful interpretation! Hartmut Haenchen's high intellect and musical integrity have secured his place in the forefront of musical life. Born in Dresden in 1943 he was raised in the post-war German Democratic Republic. Despite the severe restrictions imposed by the former East German regime, Haenchen was granted special permission to work with the West's finest ensembles, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. This is the debut recording of the young and adventurous Weimar Woodwind Quintet. The perfect blend from the great tradition of classical symphonic wind ensembles can be heard in the arrangement of Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture. This is followed by the highly polished and sophisticated classical entertainment as embodied by Mozart’s contemporary Franz Danzi. Finally, the down-to-earth and folkloristic elements are intricately woven into the music of the 1920s by Pavel Haase in his Woodwind Quintet in G minor.
