The debut album from guitarist Emmanuel Baily is an exercise in musical lyricism and Baroque expression, with the energy of contemporary jazz. By training, Baily is a classical musician active as an arranger, composer, and performer. At the crossroads of classical and jazz, his debut offers a fascinating and eclectic repertoire, with personal compositions as well as singular arrangements of J.S. Bach, Pat Metheny, and Jimmy Page.

After a first 7" single for the Berlin label New-Pangea in October, 2015, "Kermesse Machine", the new album by Manu Louis is a subtle mix of epic pop, electronic music, luxurious horns and cheap synths in French and continental English. Recorded in Berlin, Brussels and Rome, "Kermesse Machine" mixes the exotic and glamorous pop of Manu's childhood with the cheap sounds of Belgian popular music that he always did his best to ignore (brass bands, Euro Dance, industrial trance, synth music for weddin gparties...). The former singer of Fuk Sinatra defines his record as "a mountain of plastic littering the streets the day after a party, a digital tropical marching band, a man that gives his all at a karaoke session as there is nowhere else to sing, a virtuoso gypsy playing synth using the sound of a trumpet". Manu Louis creates music that crosses through contraries and inevitably evokes the atmosphere of street parties. He has created a unique musical style that German Dadaist Felix Kubin described as "really fun(ky) and clever and playful music and I'd be happy to hear it in the aquarium of the deep sea club anytime."

Behind the Darkness is the second album of Jean-Paul Estievenart as a leader. This album title has two meanings: the first is a reference to Jean-Pual's childhood, which was driven by the curiosity to discover what has hidden behind the coal slacks that were his playground for years. The second refers to the moments of darkness that man goes through in life in his quest for inaccessible perfection. This album pays homage to all the people that helped him overcome this mountain which is, ultimately, not all that dark.

A revelation with his trio, winner of numerous awards and hailed by the British magazine Jazzwise, the young Belgian pianist Igor Gehenot has brought together the cream of Europe's young jazz scene in a new quartet project called "Delta." After two albums as a trio for the Igloo label ("Road Story" in 2012 and "Motion" in 2014), the charismatic young Belgian pianist called on a solid rhythm section, the young Swedish double-bassist Viktor Nyberg and the Luxembourg drummer Jerome Klein. To complete this high-flying quartet, he brought in the bugle-player Alex Tassel, a leading figure on the French scene both in terms of electric and acoustic jazz. Winner of an Adami Jazz Talents award in 2011, Tassel has shared stages with major names such as Daniel Romeo, Rick Margitza, Jacques Schwartz-Bart, DJ Cam and Baptiste Trotignon. Recorded in October 2016 for the Igloo label, the Delta project offers music in Gehenot's lyrical style, alternating between strong melodies, solid grooves and elegant swing. Using unabashedly lyrical and romantic sounds, Gehenot and his partners play music that is rich in poetry and color, giving each note room to open up and arrive at the essence.

Created around the pianist Victor Abel, Ananke carries on the tradition of contemporary jazz, initiated by ground-breaking musicians such as Aka Moon and Greetings from Mercury. Stop That Train! is an album of modern jazz, with in-your-face but occasionally off-beat rhythms that support bewitching melodies played in turn intimately with fire. Well-written and structured, the music nonetheless leaves plenty of room for improvisation and inventive solos.

"Let's just play what we fell, what we like...what we feel like playing.." This phrase perfectly sums up the musical spark that ignited Serge, Nicolas and Teun for this new release. This album travels through improvised conversations and soundscapes, giving the listener a glimpse into the jam sessions of the trio.

For this release the Flat Earth Society combined with the guitar gods, Pierre Vervloesem and Mauro Pawlowski to pay homage to the legend, Frank Zappa. You won't find many covers on this album, but rather a concert which would make Zappa's famous moustache shine once more from the grave. An evening of fresh material, embarrassing moments and fantastic guitar solos.

Jeff Herr's new group surprises with their dexterity, presenting as a linear trio without the need for a harmonic instrument. Maxime Bender and Laurent Payfert complete this highly-skilled and energetic trio, which relies on the compositional prowess of each of it's members. This new CD mixes structured songs with wild improvisations, and includes surprising covers of songs made popular by David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix.

Aesthetically, the group’s ECM feel stood out from other Belgian groups of the time, and led them to play extensively in festivals across Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. “Overtly space music (without being vacuous), impressionistic and off-best rhythms, contained lyricism, melodies with unabashedly European colors, genuinely jazzy roots that are constantly transformed and transmuted through incessant multi-directional exploration.” (J. P. Schroeder) The quintet’s first album, Sava, was the first release on the LDH label in 1981. It is being re-released to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Hailed as a "revelation" by Jazzman for their previous album, which saw them play across Europe, the Toine Thys Trio is back with a vengeance with the album Grizzly! This Brusselsbased sax player puts a special accent on the groove and the rhythmic side of the music. After working on many projects that saw him grow as a guitarist (Sal La Rocca Band, Fabrice Alleman, Chrystel Wautier, and others) Lorenzo Di Maio now releases his first solo album, a musical yin & yang and invitation to escape. At the root of ‘Black Rainbow’ is the desire to play with contrasts. The writing acts like an inner journey that leads to an ensemble of nuanced compositions. The sound is at times melancholic, at other times lighter, sketching out soundscapes that can be dark but always with a shard of light. For the occasion, the guitarist put together a powerful team that serves music punctuated by delicate arrangements and a firm aesthetic feel that owes a lot to the subtle balance between the five musicians. In this space where playing is freedom, the various influences meet and are channeled.
