Composer, conductor, scholar, and experimental musician Gregory W. Brown presents a collection of his vocal and choral works on the Navona Records release Moonstrung Air, capturing the wonder of the human voice as our rooted connection with nature. Five Women Bathing in Moonlight depicts an idealized rendering of a seaside party scene by poet Richard Wilbur, evoking a dreamlike and timeless atmosphere. Entrai, Pastores, Entrai and Three American Folk Hymns - "The Dying Californian," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and "The Morning Trumpet" - are settings of traditional tunes that pay tribute to the original while drawing on Brown's extensive singing and conducting background. Imagery of the natural world and our gradual awareness of it's presence are primary themes in Vidi Aquam and Spring. Missa Charles Darwin is a setting of Darwin texts in the form of the Roman Catholic Mass featuring DNA from one of Darwin's finches translated into motivic material.

Sternfeld-Dunn Completed His Dma in Composition with a Minor in Music Theory from the Hartt School of Music. He Holds a Master's Degree in Composition from Washington State University As Well As a Bachelor's Degree from California State University East Bay. As Well As Being An Accomplished Composer He Is Also Active As a Conductor and String Bassist.

A Hopeful Place is a song cycle for soprano and chamber orchestra in 9 movements. +Dedicated to Kristi Holden, who premiered the work in 2010, the music was composed by Dan Redfeld, with text by John Koladziej. “A Hopeful Place, and the studio recording, is a testament to the fortitude of two powerful women in my life: Kristi [Holden], who got the ball rolling, and Elizabeth Hedman, our concertmaster and my wife, who made sure the ship never steered off course. Pianist, chamber musician, and educator Cicilia Yudha presents her Navona Records release SELECTED PIANO WORKS BY ROBERT CASADESUS AND HENRI DUTILLEUX, featuring her expertise as a solo pianist, as well as the exploration of the compositions of Robert Casadesus. Yudha’s skillful approach is demonstrated in the opening piece, Sonata No. 3, Op. 44, which has an energetic and rhythmically exciting first movement followed by a vibrant second movement, which exhibits a slow and reflective texture. Native to Indonesia, Yudha is an accomplished pianist who has performed in the US, Austria, Cambodia, Canada, France, and Germany. She has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra in addition to being a frequent soloist with the Duke University Symphony Orchestra. She is also a notable music educator haven given master classes and presentations all over the United States and Southeast Asia.

Navona Records is delighted to present DASHING, a festive album for the holiday season featuring brand new works and arrangements of holiday favorites by several outstanding composers, with performances by The Stanbery Singers, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra. Familiar faces and tunes make appearances here, such as Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s perennial holiday favorite, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from his ballet The Nutcracker. Henry Wolking provides a jazz arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen; likewise, David Tanner contributes with an arrangement of O Holy Night. Composer Christopher J. Hoh has produced choral commissions for The Stuttgart German-American Chorus, and California’s Meistersingers. In addition to several current composition projects, he is also editing neglected works from the European Renaissance and America for performance. L Peter Deutsch composes primarily for small instrumental or a capella vocal ensembles, known for his modal harmonies, fluent text setting, and lyrical melodies. His work to date includes three choral commissions ("Brethren and Lovers," San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, 2008, "The Dimensions of Love," Bay Choral Guild, 2011, and "Where Everything is Music," Arizona Women in Tune, 2012).

This new release from Navona highlights works by well-known Jewish composers Aaron Copland and Eric Korngold. Violinist Yuriy Bekker performs the works on this release on a rare 1686 Ex-Nachez Stradivarius violin. Bekker has been concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra since 2007, and has recently taken the position of Principal Pops Conductor. Andrew Armstrong performs alongside Bekker for this release.
