Room is an album by guitarists Nels Cline and Julian Lage which was originally released in November 2014. Writing for All About Jazz, Matt Marshall stated "the musicianship of the two guitarists allows them to take every tune to a number of unexpected and exciting places... Each track has it's own character, but the entire album is permeated by the two guitarists' inventiveness and sensitive accompanying ability".

In a 2013 Q&A with JazzTimes, Julian Lage described the Cline-Lage duo sound as "200 percent power," and that's exactly what comes through on ROOM: an inspired collection of originals and collaborative pieces that runs the full range from intricately composed and complex to free and spontaneous. Nels Cline builds on the strength of his previous duo work with the likes of Elliott Sharp, Thurston Moore, Carla Bozulich, Marc Ribot and not least of all the late West Coast bassist Eric Von Essen. Lage, for his part, has worked in duo settings with David Grisman, Martin Taylor, John Abercrombie, Taylor Eigsti and others.

Following the release of Nels Cline's expansive Blue Note debut Lovers which found him fronting a 23-piece ensemble arranged by Michael Leonhart, the Wilco guitarist pares it down to The Nels Cline 4 for his project Currents, Constellations. The album features Cline alongside fellow guitarist and frequent collaborator Julian Lage, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Tom Rainey on a set of seven Cline originals plus one piece by composer Carla Bley. Nels Cline first came to prominence in the 1980s playing jazz, often in collaboration with his twin brother Alex Cline, a drummer. Since then, he has worked with a wide range of musicians in punk and alternative rock, notably Mike Watt and Thurston Moore.
