Johny Carlsson, a devout jazz fan, born and raised in Sweden and, since my early teens, a wannabe jazz payer. All of the jazz greats and jazz styles have a pace in he�s heart. However, ever since he first heard the great trombone payer J.J. Johnson with the Miles Davis' group and then, later on, J.J. and Kai Winding on the Jay & Kai Quintet, in the Septet and, on the eight bones recordings, the mighty sound of a trombone group paying jazz has fascinated me. In Johny�s mid-teens and early 20's he was writing music and paying the piano in small combos in Sweden.

60 years have passed since the release of a recording that would change Swedish jazz forever. Bill Evans, with his incredible touch and mastery of harmony has made an undeniable imprint on jazz musicians all over the world - and through his collaboration with Monica Zetterlund on "Waltz for Debby" in 1964, a new era for Scandinavian music was born. Impressions of Evans is an effort to pay tribute to this - a gesture of gratitude for making pine trees and 5th Avenue come together in a remarkably seamless, beautiful way and for being the perfect example of how one plus one sometimes equals three.

Vivian Buczek was born in Sweden with Polish roots. She has today developed into one of Sweden’s most outstanding and engaging jazzsingers with a remarkable feeling for the jazz idiom. She writes: "Ella Fitzgerald has always been my greatest inspiration and the main reason that I have become a jazz singer. It all began when my dad gave me the live album "Ella in Berlin” from 1960 and it immediately blew me away! I had never heard such honest and joyful singing before. The way Ella was using her voice in so many different ways was astonishing to me. She could sing anything, slow heart-breaking ballads, moaning blues, and up-tempo songs with her impressive scat singing to top it all. This is my second album in collaboration with one of the greatest Swedish musicians and arrangers Martin Sjöstedt. Martin has a fantastic ability to get inside any tune and come up with the most imaginative arrangements a singer can wish for. It’s always a thrill and an amazing musical journey every time I perform on stage with him and his trio. I have chosen some of my favorite Ella songs that I have listened to and sung since I was a teenager, many of them from the Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks and live albums. This album is with my sincerest gratitude to Ella Fitzgerald for having given me inspiration for the one thing I enjoy most in life: Singing!”

We recorded this album live at Jazzklubb Syd in Ladan, Farsta, on a cold winter's night in January 2024, but it didn't take long for the temperature to rise in that small wooden barn. There, the warmth of the connection between the musicians, the music and the audience was palpable. A love of jazz - the fantastic melodies and harmonies, the meaningful lyrics and the swinging rhythms - brought us together in time for a while, and this album is the result. The title "A Heart Full of Rhythm" is of course taken from the Louis Armstrong song. But it also refers perfectly to our drummer, Ronnie Gardiner, and the important work he does with The Ronnie Gardiner Method, a multi-sensory rehabilitation method used to help those aff ected by, for example, brain injuries, stroke, MS or Parkinson's. His accredited method is used all over the world. Dedicated to all music lovers, and most of all our dear friends and families. Enjoy!

"Adi Shakti" is Vidya's third album and a continuation of the record "The Papillon," which was released in 2022 and was rooted in Vidya's experience of having found, and then lost, her Indian biological mother. In June 2022, Vidya's Swedish mother also suddenly passed away. Losing two mothers in a short period of time affected Vidya deeply and on several levels. At this stage, she found solace in a poem by Rumi and began composing music based on it.

Ale M�ller is a veritable musical explorer and globetrotter. He plays an incredible number of instruments, most of which were built especially for him. Out of all his many barrier-breaking projects he has now chosen to realize his dream of collaborating with the Bohusl�n Big Band, plumbing the depths of his music arranged for jazz orchestra on Pegasus, released on Prophone. No stone remains unturned and not a single idea has been left unexplored as Mr. M�ller and the band work together in seeking out the ultimate in musical expression, in part through the use non-traditional jazz instruments.

The eight composers honoring Jojje Wadenius with their work are Monica Dominique, Helge Albin, Peter Danemo, Anne Mette Iversen, Geir Lysne, Johan Lindström, Maggi Olin and Joakim Milder. In addition to these compositions the album includes Jojje Wadenius’ classic tune from 1969, Snake in a Hole, performed as an encore on the tour with Norrbotten Big Band. "First of all I’d like to thank Joakim Milder, Walter Brolund and Norrbotten Big Band for giving me this fantastic gift for my 70th birthday! What joy to spend a couple weeks with this versatile and inspiring group of musicians. Their incredible knowledge never ceased to amaze me. When this wonderful group of talented people is faced with miscellaneous challenges, in this case the brilliant and personal compositions these eight composers contributed with, a lot of exciting and creative encounters emerge.-Perhaps music is most inspiring when it leads the performer toward a deeper understandingof the self.
