2022 EP release. His name may be new as a signed artist, but California native Ryan Ellis has been preparing for this moment his entire life. Sharing his songwriting talents to pen songs such as "Resurrection Power" by Chris Tomlin, which earned him a GMA Dove Award nomination and ASCAP's "Most Performed Song" award in 2018, he's also written for Matt Redman, Natalie Grant, Meredith Andrews, Housefires, and more. He is now ready to share his debut self-titled album (Provident Label Group/Sony Music), a breathtaking introduction to his own redefinition of worship. Harking back to his pop and R&B influences while evoking the sunny vibes of his hometown of San Diego, he explains, "These songs were written in a season where I was really discovering the grace of God and His kindness, patience, and mercy. When I was a worship pastor living in Isla Vista, California, the goal behind our ministry was to show that it doesn't matter where you are or what stage of life you're in - there's always going to be the grace and love of God waiting for you. He always accepts us exactly where we're at and walks alongside us. I feel like these songs show what it is to be a believer and how we're called to walk and love people."

The Chantels were an all-girl vocal group from New York, who followed in the footsteps of The Bobbettes as one of the first African-American girl groups to enjoy major chart success in the USA. They took their name from their school, St. Frances of Chantal, and unlike many of their peers were more influenced by classical and Latin music than by gospel. They were still at high school when they were discovered by Richard Barrett of The Valentines, and signed to the End label in 1957, having their first pop and R&B hits the same year, featuring the lead vocals of Arlene Smith. This 2-CD collection comprises their A & B sides on the End, Gone and Carlton labels from this era, plus the tracks from their albums "We Are The Chantels", "There's Our Song Again" and "The Chantels On Tour" not otherwise released on singles. It features their No. 2 R&B hit "Maybe", and No. 6 hit "Look In My Eyes" plus their other pop and R&B chart entries from these years "He's Gone", "Every Night (I Pray)", "I Love You So", "Summer's Love" and "Well I Told You So". Although they had a couple of minor Hot 100 entries later in the '60s, this collection provides a reasonably comprehensive overview of the primary era of their career, and is a fine showcase for their distinctive style and sound as they paved the way for other girl groups in the charts

The Crests were a ground-breaking multiracial pop/doowop group formed in the mid-1950s when singer Johnny Mastrangelo joined forces with a doowop quartet comprising three African-Americans and one Puerto Rican - as time went on Johnny Mastrangelo became Johnny Masters, Johnny Mastro and then Johnny Maestro as he turned to solo recording as well. Having had a minor hit on the Joyce label, they signed to Coed Records, and in 1958 had a major success when "Sixteen Candles" was a US No. 2, kicking off a career which brought several more chart successes through into the '60s as Tony Middleton and James Ancrum took over lead vocal duties from Johnny Maestro. This great-value 51-track 2-CD set comprises the A & B sides of their singles on the Coed, Trans Atlas, Selma and Times Square labels from these years as The Crests, Johnny Masters, Johnny Maestro and Johnny Maestro & The Original Crests, plus the tracks from their album "The Crests Sing All Biggies" not otherwise released on singles. It features all their ten pop and R&B chart entries from this era, including the pop No. 2 and R&B No. 4 "Sixteen Candles". It's about as comprehensive a selection of their work from this era that could be assembled and captures a highly distinctive style of music that ranges through doowop, R&B, rock 'n' roll and pure teen pop.

Gene McDaniels was an African-American singer, who started out performing gospel, before turning to jazz, and came to the fore as vocalist with the Les McCann Trio in Los Angeles. Signed by Liberty, he teamed up with producer Snuff Garrett after a couple of releases and burst onto the chart scene in 1961 with the US No. 3 "A Hundred Pounds Of Clay". A series of hits followed through the early '60s, and he also became a versatile album seller, before turning to the black consciousness form later in the decade. This great-value 58-track 2-CD collection comprises all his Liberty A & B sides from these years, plus selected tracks from his albums "In Times Like These", "Sometimes I'm Happy Sometimes I'm Blue", "100 Lbs. Of Clay!", "Sings Movie Memories", "Tower Of Strength", and "Hit After Hit". It features all his chart entries from this era including the Top 10 hits "A Hundred Pounds Of Clay", "Tower Of Strength" and "Chip Chip", plus "Point Of No Return", "Spanish Lace" and others. On his albums, he explores a variety of musical territory, exploiting his jazz and gospel-trained voice as he performs Great American Songbook standards and his own interpretations of current hits of the day, plus classic movie songs along with new contemporary material. He was a fine singer, whose pop hits marked him out as a distinctive song stylist, and this collection is an enjoyable showcase for that talent.

Double vinyl LP pressing. Dangerous is the eighth studio album by Michael Jackson. It was released on November 26, 1991 by Epic Records. His first album under his new contract with Sony Music, it was also Jackson's first album since 1975's Forever, Michael not to be produced by longtime collaborator Quincy Jones, who had agreed to split after the final recording sessions for Jackson's 1987 album, Bad. Dangerous has sold over 35 million copies worldwide, 7 million albums were shipped in the United States alone, and has been cited as one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album produced four Top Ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 including one number-one. Similar to the musician's previous material, the album's music features elements of R&B, pop and rock while also incorporating a newer genre, new jack swing, after the inclusion of producer Teddy Riley to the project in a bid to present Jackson to a younger urban audience. Jackson earned writing credits on all but two tracks on the album. Dangerous received several Grammy nominations, winning only one for Best Engineered Album. In addition to commercial success, the album received critical acclaim from contemporary critics.

The Impressions were one of the R&B vocal groups that heralded the transition from doowop to the more pop-oriented styles of the late '50s, and were notable for bringing to the fore two of the great soul voices of the era, Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield. They made their first records in 1958, when Butler and Mayfield were still in their teens, and immediately had hits, with Butler starting to pursue a solo career with a year or two, as both The Impressions, led by Mayfield, and Butler as a solo artist continued parallel hit careers. This 57-track 2-CD set comprises Impressions A & B sides from these years, featuring Curtis Mayfield, and including some featuring Jerry Butler, on the Abner and ABC-Paramount labels, plus Jerry Butler solo A & B sides on Veejay. It also includes the titles not otherwise featured on singles from the Veejay album "He Will Break Your Heart" and the Abner album "Jerry Butler Esq." It features the Impressions' four hits from these years, including the R&B No. 2 "Gypsy Woman" and No. 3 "For Your Precious Love", and Jerry Butler's ten hits from this era, including the R&B No. 1 "He Will Break Your Heart", plus the Top 20 entries "Lost", "Find Another Girl", "I'm A Telling You", "Moon River" and "Make It Easy On Yourself". It's a great showcase both for the Impressions' distinctive style as a vocal group and for Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield's notable talents as singers and writers, underlining their importance as key influences in the genre.
