Marombo is a new track written, arranged and produced by Gerardo Frisina, that anticipates his forthcoming album, called "Moving Ahead" and scheduled for February 2020. Here "Marombo" has been especially divided in two parts, to be featured in this 12" EP. "Moving Ahead" suggests another change in Gerardo's style, a solid step into the future to explore new music territories without compromising his original identity and trademark. "Marombo" is in fact a mixture of nu-latin and electronic beats with Afro-Cuban rhythm into a massive dancefloor groove! This new song sees the participation of Gerardo's longtime collaborators Ernesto Lopez on drums and percussion and Alfonso Deidda on baritone saxophone. The result is a perfect blend between deep, Detroit afro-dub dance with a massive groove perfect for the dance floor. As always Gerardo amazes us with his unique touch. Absolutely not to be missed!!!

As taken from the linear notes of the album: A leading direction of contemporary jazz lies in bringing up to light, after a basic creative revisiting, important pages from that huge heritage of compositions and arrangements which the march of jazz is studded. An expressive dimension at a high level pointed out by this sextet of young but mature musicians who debut here as a group. A band definitely showing up the knowledge, the global sense of the jazz history, even if the roots of it's components are mostly in the bop tradition and in the experiences of 60's and 70's deriving from it. That's why it is not correct to consider the musical proposal of "Look Out" as a remake of one of the most famous Italian and European jazz combo of the 50's and 60's: The quintet (further known as sextet with the addition of trombone player Dino Piana) of Gianni Basso and Oscar Valdambrini. It cannot be a remake because the Schema Sextet has been inspired by the wish of capturing the unmistakable sound of those groups in order to project it in today's reality, reinventing it through the diverse feeling of young contemporary musicians. It cannot even be defined as a philological work because, except for Rosario Giuliani, nobody of them have ever studied the tracks listening to the original versions : In fact, in the full of gaps discography of this group, we don't find the entire live repertoire, and for this reason Gianni Basso in person had to send to Rosario Giuliani the scores for the tracks that were never recorded. Pioneering Italian musician and producer Nicola Conte and esteemed trombonist Gianluca Petrella team up again for their new project's third EP on Schema, ahead of their forthcoming full length project due late 2019. "Free Your Mind" is a straight-up party jam, complete with a powerful horn section, playful synth lines, and powered by a rock solid Afrobeat rhythm section. "Imani River" sees the duo putting their spin on a spiraling 6/8 time signature, featuring otherworldly guest vocals from Bridgette Amofah, who also featured on the duo's previous collaborative releases. The track offers a stark contrast to the feel good vibes of "Free Your Mind," taking on a somewhat spiritual demeanor, due as much to Petrella's evocative trombone playing as to Amofah's lofty vocals or the reeling nature of the percussion. Conte and Petrella bring the tempo up a notch or two with closing track "Infinity," which lands somewhere between the dancefloor focused "Free Your Mind" and more headsy "Imani River," allowing the listener to get equally as lost in the song's driving groove as the intergalactic sound-palette that floats on top of it.

“Someway Still I Do” is a record enriched by the immediacy of pop, the quality of the arrangements, timeless music that echoes the glory of unforgettable soundtracks, the finest orchestral jazz and the great adult pop productions of the past. Today in 2019, exactly 10 years after its first album release, Magnanini’s record is reissued on a special version with two brand new tracks included on side D: “Cried For You” features once again Cousteau’s singer Liam McKahey at the mic, while “Morning Light” is accompanied by Elisa Aramonte’s smooth vocals, a new talent joining Magnanini’s project “Someway Still I Do”. Magnanini states, “The main sources of inspiration for his album are the great adult pop productions of the past… I take easy listening melodies and filter them through a jazz approach and a more cultured language. The melodies are identified with the arrangements by excellent artists such as Claus Ogerman, referring in particularly to those ones produced for the performances of Astrud Gilberto, the orchestral atmospheres proper to the Shirley Bassey's repertory, and the “playful" evocative ability of Henry Mancini."

Twelve inch vinyl pressing. Gerardo Frisina goes back to the roots of the sound which has made him famous worldwide: The Latin sound of classics like Descarga or the Latin Kick. Moderno Primitivo is an EP about the encounter of the ancient Afro-Cuban tradition (the core of Frisina's artistic DNA) with a refined electronic taste. This component enriches drums and percussions and gives more edge to the whole production with details like pads and effects. In Moderno Primitivo the Latin ensemble headed by Frisina takes US into a jam session where percussions, piano and trombone play happily. The Latin House Mix is a club version where the rhythmic element and the groove take control of the mix. The melody is broken and a Hammond plays over a ostinato bass. The flavour is definitely tribal. "Cogele El Ritmo" is a trip into Frisina's Latin world. Slower than "Moderno Primitivo", still has a solid hook to the dance-floor and is a triumph of joy and colour.

Research in jazz along with solid live sessions that were frequent in the latest years, have lead the Lo Greco brothers to feel the urge of composing articulate pieces upon a rhythmic and harmonic texture that is typical of a quintet. This way they aimed at creating modal and post hard-bop sound atmospheres, with reference and reverence to the golden years of quintets like those of Miles Davin and J.Coltrane; W.Shorter and F. Hubbard, not forgetting the drumming of Elvin Jones. Strong influences come from those greatest artists of the past who continue to inspire Lo Greco’s compositions and arrangements. The use of 3/4 and 6/8 shapes the quintet’s rhythmic, which is almost as dancing over the passionate and soft pieces, whereas the medium fast drive of 4/4 is the expression of the musicians coming to terms with improvisations and phrasing. In turn they display solos, whilst in swing bounce slow compositions melodies entwine with solos to involve musicians and listeners in the same emotions. The emotion is ever present in each track of the album. Homogeneity, a sound warm and clear, deepness and space give to this album’s compositions a certain artistic quality and intensity.

In the rich tradition of jazz, the concept of 'cooking session' is likened to an informal jam, capturing the music's essence in the magic of the moment. This album was recorded in just such a way, aiming to pay homage to jazz as the 'art of now'. Tenor saxophonist Timo Lassy has cemented his position at the helm of the burgeoning Finnish jazz scene, having worked at the forefront of it's swinging contemporary jazz for more than a decade.

Luz da Joaca is a track taken from S-Tone Inc.'s latest full-length "Onda", here retreated by the magic touch of Maestro Gerardo Frisina with his unique taste. A musical journey in two different movements, both in a Batucada style: the first half of the album exalts the original melody sung by Toco, while the second half is a dub rhythm-focused version especially made for a DJ use. Once again Mr. Frisina gives us a sample of his skills as an affirmed producer and longtime collaborator of Schema Records! S-Tone Inc. Is multi-instrumentalist jazz musician Stefano Tirone's main musical project. Originating from Milan, Italy, Tirone has been a professional musician for over twenty years. The first official S-Tone Inc. #recording was released in 1992 during the acid jazz era, a formative time for Tirone, who was heavily influenced by the combination of soul, jazz and Latin rhythms of the period.

The Invisible Session are Luciano Cantone (a co-founder of Schema Records as well as producer and lyricist) along with Paolo Fedreghini and Marco Bianchi, who also composed, arranged and performed the music on this album. The producer's profound and spiritual pathway, together with it's resulting vision, crossed with the two musicians' affinity in the same investigation. After months spent collaborating, the three decided to channel their collective ideas into music. Once common inspiration was found, it became the guiding star to the "invisible session". The ten resulting compositions are where various music genres interconnect. The trio shaped a project whose strength resides in rhythms and contaminated Jazz. Hence, Gospel and Blues blend in along with Hard-Bop and R&B for a club dimension.

• In late 2012, we began touring this material. As the studio recording was a relaxed “cooking session”, we began looking for a new approach. The band had a five-year history together, so we were confident the live dynamics for this music would come naturally, which it did. A key element was striving for a common goal. The story of “The Revelations” is part of a fruitful and unique period of Italian Discography. A moment of great creativity and innovation, when the boundaries between music, cinema and television were uncertain. A story of great orchestras, film directors and inspired composers which were endlessly producing in a country getting back on its feet after the Second world war. “The Revelations”, released in 1970, is a gem that emerged from this period. A record amongst many that although relatively unknown, remains highly sought after by record collectors world over. Adventurous is probably the most appropriate word to describe those fantastic years that we fondly remember for famous film scores and the birth of the Italian pop scene. Help!, the Rome based record label which released “The Revelations”, was the first music business run by the young producer Gianni dell’Orso. Conceived by Dell’Orso, appearing here under his alter ego Proluton, and his brother Giacomo, “The Revelations” LP was produced as Library Music for television and manufactured in a very limited number of copies. It was a peculiar recording within the label context, with musical intuitions that sparked great interest in this release which in turn has made it both valuable and highly collectable. The LP blends diverse inspirations and heterogeneous moods, since its aim was to offer many options to television producers. Giacomo Dell’Orso, musician, composer and orchestra director, signed most of the tracks under the moniker Oscar Lindok. His music takes the listener into a journey through cinematic atmospheres and funk influences with a beat background – a world of moving melodies and strong grooves. Giacomo’s life is an example of dedicating one’s existence to music for we can’t avoid the underlying connection of his private life, music and cinema without also remembering his marriage to Edda Sabbatini - better known as Edda Dell’Orso, Ennio Morricone’s favourite singer. The musicians featured on this record are great session men with glorious careers: Silvano Chimenti, Giovanni Tommaso, Enzo Restuccia and Mario Scotti - all famous for their work on film scores and as featured musicians who enjoyed great Italian Pop success as well. “The Revelations” arrives back on record store shelves in this remastered version – a must-have for all Library Music lovers and vinyl collectors.

This new Schema release from Italian multi-reedist Gaetano Partipilois dedicated to the music of the '60s rearranged in a modern way. The result is a warm music, refined and full of pathos. American jazz standards and Brazilian numbers dominate the album's fourteen tunes. Mr. Participle has been on the international jazz scene for more than decade.

The Latin Taste is a rare bossa nova which energizes the overall feeling of the music, while taking it to another dimension. The grooves and vibes are just enough to keep the listener motivated at the work place, while also adding the feeling that one should be 'chillin' in the warmth of the sun, with a refreshing cold drink in hand, lounging by the pool, or better still, on the beach of a tropical island. This record was composed in collaboration with the valued Brazilian jazz guitarist Irio de Paula, the Italian saxophonist Stefano Colnaghi and the African percussionist Wilfred Copello. The majority are covers of well know works from artists such as Jobim, Ellington, Parker. The CD contains two extra unreleased pieces: 'Night in Tunisia', cover of the original song composed by Dizzie Gillespie, and 'Foglie Morte'. originally composed by Shirley Bassey.
