About this Release GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) features score music written by Rob Simonsen for the latest chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. The film marks the third collaboration between Simonsen and Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer and director Jason Reitman, the duo working closely to reimagine the iconic soundscape crafted by Elmer Bernstein for director Ivan Reitman's original 1984 film, which was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Isaac Stern changed the world he lived in, both as a violinist of dazzling virtuosity and immense soul, and as a tireless, joyous humanitarian. Even among people who know little of classical music, his name is synonymous with the highest quality and the most generous spirit. In a career that stretched over half a century, Stern made definitive recordings of the great canon of Western music for the violin, from towering concertos to the most beguiling of encores. His repertoire encompassed everything from Baroque chamber works to the most challenging music of his own time, all transformed by incomparable artistry and a unique musical spirit. Artists featured in this set include Yo-Yo Ma, Pinchas Zukerman, Pablo Casals, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniel Barenboim and Emanuel Ax as well as Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra and Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic.

What does America sound like? To many ears it sounds like Aaron Copland, and the three ballet scores featured on this CD are why. What now seems like a mainstream national style was quite original when 'Billy the Kid' arrived, a music educated in Paris but bursting with New York energy and chutzpah and hankering to go west. The integration of American folk tunes into a modernist palette, alive with polytonality and vigorous rhythmic displacement, had never been achieved so successfully before, nor has it since. Of course 'Appalachian Spring' followed the same formula down a somewhat more genial path and became the most beloved of all American ballet scores.
Since the 1960s the performances of Leonard Bernstein have had no rival in this repertoire, but now they do. Even among Michael Tilson Thomas' many fine discs of American music, COPLAND THE POPULIST stands out, as these well-known pieces are made to sound fresh and alive again. This 'Billy' is a great, energetic dancer, yet has wonderful delicacy, stopping to smell the cactus roses, as it were, on the way to a tragic fate. 'Appalachian Spring,' for all its beauties, is more attentive than usual to its darker side, especially as it includes the rarely heard "revival" scene, an edgy, propulsive, and forward sounding episode that immediately precedes the final Shaker apotheosis.

Jan Vogler's new album was recorded in a small studio in New York. He teamed with the fantastic Finnish guitarist Ismo Eskelinen for this recording.

"Songbook" presents partly pieces originally written for cello and guitar such as 3 Nocturnes by Friedrich Burgmüller (1806-1874) and the first movement of the Sonata for Guitar and Cello by Brazilian composerRadamés Gnattali (1906-1988).

"Songbook" also features several famous works in arrangements for guitar and cello: Cantabile by Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840), the Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie (1866-1925), the Suite Popular Española byManuel de Falla (1876-1946) as well as the famous Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras by the most famous South American composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959). The arrangement of Paganini's Cantabile appears on this album as a world premiere recording on guitar and cello. Also the Gymnopédie No. 1 by Satie is newly arranged for this recording by Jan Vogler himself.

The album also includes several movements from Histoire du Tango - one of the most famous compositions by the world's foremost composer of tango music, Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). One of these movements, Bordel 1900, is as well a world premiere recording on guitar and cello.

Another first recording on this album is the arrangement of a world famous hit, Moon River by Henry Mancini (1924-1994). Winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song, Moon River has been indeed covered and recorded in hundreds of versions; but it's arrangement for cello and guitar has been recorded for the first time by Vogler and Eskelinen for this album.

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Having blazed her way into public consciousness with her fearlessness on stage as well as on record, Georgian-born pianist Khatia Buniatishvili has become known for her distinctive artistic approach and bold interpretive flair, which combine to make her playing and performances both unmistakable and unmissable. Celebrated by media around the world, she has been described by The Observer as “one of today’s most exciting and technically gifted young pianists”, while Madame Figaro has called her “the popstar of the classical music world,” adding that “with Khatia Buniatishvili, only the repertoire is classical. As for the rest, there’s no limit.” This brilliant young musician now turns her attention to Franz Schubert (1797–1828) in her eagerly anticipated first recording of the composer’s works, including his great last Piano Sonata D 960, the four popular Impromptus D 899, and Liszt’s arrangement of “Standchen” from Schwanengesang. The Schubert album follows on from Buniatishvili’s acclaimed series of single-composer albums for Sony Classical already featuring Liszt, Chopin and Rachmaninoff, as well as her two fascinating collections Motherland and Kaleidoscope. Khatia Buniatishvili made her debut as a soloist with an orchestra when she was only six years old; by the age of ten she had played in Europe’s most prestigious halls, as well as in Israel and the United States of America, and has never looked back. Her career has advanced into many new dimensions, especially since receiving the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2010 and participating in the pioneering BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme (2009–11), as well as twice receiving the ECHO Klassik Award. Much in demand internationally, she performs regularly at leading halls around the world with top orchestras and conductors of the day.
