OLIVER COATES / HISTORY SOUND - O.S.T Decca presents the soundtrack to the 2025 film, The History of Sound. OUTLANDER: SEASON 8 (ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK) features original music by Emmy®- and BAFTA®-winning composer Bear McCreary for the final season of the critically acclaimed series. Two CDs. Nonesuch releases the soundtrack for Luca Guadganino's film After The Hunt, which stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloe Sevigny. After The Hunt is a gripping psychological drama written by Nora Garrett about a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light. As with almost all of Guadagnino's films - beginning with I Am Love and including Call Me By Your Name- the double album soundtrack, compiled by Guadagnino and Matthew Rankin, comprises multiple recordings by composer John Adams, as well as new music by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Challengers, Bones And All, Queer), and a selection of songs featured in the film by Tony Bennett & Bill Evans, The National, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Everything But The Girl, among others.

Nonesuch releases Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated composer Jonny Greenwood's score to the new action comedy film written, directed, and produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another features eighteen new compositions performed by Greenwood-on piano, guitar, bass, percussion, and ondes Martenot-joined by the London Contemporary Orchestra and conductor Hugh Brunt, among others. The title track may be streamed here. Released via Warner Bros. Composer John Debney (Sin City, Passion of the Christ) may seem an odd choice to score a film about a horse trainer, his precocious daughter, and their quest for the Breeder's Cup, but he rises to the occasion with a rousing piece of recycled Americana that's sure to bring a lump in the throat to even the grumpiest moviegoer. Like Mark Isham's similarly predictable score for the 2004 hockey drama Miracle, Debney represents the best of the genre, utilizing a not-so-subtle blend of soft pianos, warm strings (courtesy of Indiana-born violin wunderkind Joshua Bell), and patriotic brass motifs to paint a rural backdrop reminiscent of both Aaron Copeland's "Appalachian Spring" and The Natural-era Randy Newman. ~ James Christopher Monger

Celebrate director Chris Columbus' classic hit film HOME ALONE and it's well-loved soundtrack by the legendary composer John Williams with a new CD reissue. The two-time Academy Awards® - nominated soundtrack was released alongside the 1990 film, with the film's theme "Somewhere in My Memory" becoming an instant classic in the cannon of both film and Christmas music.

Bear McCreary returns to compose music for the seventh season of Outlander where characters Jamie Fraser and Young Ian race to rescue Claire before she's tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie. This season showcases a geopolitical firestorm: The American Revolution arriving to North Carolina. The second part of the series finds Claire, Jamie and Young Ian leaving the colonies and arriving in their beloved homeland of Scotland. The perils of the Revolutionary War force the Frasers to choose between standing by those they love and fighting for the land they have made their new home. The emotionally rich score includes songs influenced by Scottish folk music and colonial America. Romantic strings, anthemic percussion, delicate flutes, skillful bagpipes and fiddle rhythms are abundant on the soundtrack. Fans will also recognize musical melodies from previous seasons. Vocalists Sinead O'Connor and Griogair Labhruidh each have a track on the album.

From the Masterworks vault, NBC’s television adaptation of Alice Through the Looking Glass featured a starry cast including Agnes Moorehead (Bewitched), Ricardo Montalban (Fantasy Island), Robert Coote (My Fair Lady), Nanette Fabray, Jack Palance, Jimmy Durante and even The Smothers Brothers – as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum!  This loose adaptation of the Lewis Carroll story, featuring Judi Rolin as Alice, first brought its blend of music and whimsy to television on November 6, 1966.  The great Don Costa arranged the Simmons/Charlap songs.

This collection brilliantly showcases Rosza's strengths, which ranged from historical pageants like Ivanhoe, fantasy epics like Knights of the Round Table, The Thief of Baghdad, and The Jungle Book, and of course, those dark, brooding "film noir" classics typified by The Lost Weekend (represented by an extended suite). Remarkably, Rosza's personality shines through all of this music just as it does for Korngold and Waxman. Much of the music has a distinctly Hungarian inflection that is here universalized to produce a moody, passionate, and often exotic idiom (witness The Thief of Baghdad) quite different from the work of the Viennese film composers active in Hollywood at the same time. As with other releases in this series, the performances are stupendously vivid, the sonics brilliant and lush. The soundtrack to the popular independent film The Spitfire Grill contains James Horner's subtle, moving score that works as an individual piece of music, not just as pleasant sonic wallpaper. It's a lovely score and one that proves that Horner, who has also written the music for Braveheart, Field of Dreams, and Alien, is one of the finest film composers of his era. ~ Rodney Batdorf
