Society, musical conventions, and tastes inevitably change and develop over time, but the shared human experiences that artists draw upon do not. The two overarching ideas that Lara Deutsch and Phil Chiu used as inspiration for this album are dreams and journeys. Dreamy music is often associated with relaxation and easy-listening -- but don’t be fooled; this music has wickedly fast and thrilling sounds that capture the chaotic nature of dreams as well! Recipient of the $125,000 Prix Goyer for collaborative artists in 2019-2020, she is happiest when performing chamber music with her favorite musical partners.

For forty years, saxophonist Arno Bornkamp has consistently dazzled the music world with his energetic and passionate interpretations. On his new GENUIN CD "Folies de Baryton", the world-renowned artist gives his audience a glowing declaration of love for the baritone saxophone, which is rarely played as a soloist. Bornkamp shows here the immense possibilities of this instrument with its deep, raw, and powerful tone. The program focuses almost exclusively on contemporary music, featuring works by Gyorgi Kurtag, Peter Vigh, Giuseppe Ruggiero, and Luca Francesconi. Bornkamp juxtaposes them with several of Marin Marais' famous variations on "Les Folies d'Espagne", which sound as natural as if they had been written for saxophone more than 300 years ago. What an exciting sound journey!

Takashi Yoshimatsu's wide-ranging musical influences often combine jazz and rock elements with classical, folk and world music. This album focuses on a unique series of three solo piano works for the left hand, inspired by his great friend Izumi Tateno. These lyric and beautiful miniatures are saturated in nature and birdsong, as can be heard in the evocative Tapiola Visions and in the seven bouquets that form Ainola Lyrical Ballads which are dedicated to Sibelius. In Gauche Dances, we hear a sequence that includes the tango and boogie woogie, displaying how eagerly and ebulliently Yoshimatsu breaks boundaries.
