This release features a collection of songs by composer Sisizmondo D'India. D'India, during his lifetime wrote madrigals and sacred music, but his most famous works are airs and laments for solo voice which are of a unique poetry. Each of these songs is rich in expressiveness, their big melodies drawing the listener's attention and marking D'India as a formitable composer of his day. Also included are instrumental solo pieces of some of D'India's contemporary composers, Carlo Calvi, Girolamo Kapsberger, and Alessandro Piccinini. Soprano Claudine Anselme's singing is full of emotion, and both she and her lutist partner Paolo Cherici are experts of this music period. This is a rich recording, full of late-Renaissance and early-Baroque gems.

Vittorio Fellegara (1927-2011) studied with Luciano Chailly and get graduated at Milan Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory after having followed mathematics and physical University courses. From 1955 to 1956 he attended Darmstadt Ferienkurse für neue Musik; then from 1956 to 1959 he was Roman Philharmonic Academy secretary and after that from 1960 to 2004 of the Italian Society of Contemporary Music; he was also present in the most important Contemporary Music Festival all over the world and member and president of the Jury in International Festivals. His artistic course started in Fifties from a constructive vision aimed to join the hindemitian polyphonism to the dodecaphony the he oriented himself to a more vanguard language considering also civil engagement issues always connected to an artistical dimension. After this Phase he adopted a more intimate lyricism underlying his taste for an elegant and refined wrap. Our new release collects a series of chambers works written by Fellegara from 1980 to 1994 and it is a tribute to this artist died eleven years ago. A valuable collection unreleased tracks showing the creative soul of one of the most important Italian composer of the Twentieth Century.

In the first half of XIX Century music for flute and piano reached a wide diffusion among professionals and amateurs. Most famous and celebrated opera arias were arranged for this combination and released and there were also many short tracks and dances compilations especially in Austria and Germany. Near these minor releases there were operas characterized by a stronger formal commitment and three of them are presented in this Vermeer album. The First one is Carl Czerny’s Grand Duo op 129. He was probably the most talented Beethoven student and during his varied career as a pianist he became a very famous teacher and the most authoritative exponent of Biedemeier style. It follows Carl Maria von Weber Sonata op 39 in the 1817 August Eberhard Müller musical arrangement. Carl Maria von Weber can be easily considered as the founder of German opera. At the end of this release there is Beethoven’s Sonata op 41- apparently a minor work but with all the genius of German composer

In the first half of the eighteenth century Milan was one of music’s world capitals, and was the center of Italian instrumental music. It can be considered the starting point of a genre that would redefine music all over the world- the sonata. Milanese musicians were long forgotten but nowadays, thanks to musicological investigation and studies, they have been revalued. This new VERMEER release presents a series of Sonatas for flute and continuo all from Milanese composers; beginning from Giuseppe Sammartini who was also an appreciate oboe performer, Carlo Zuccari violinist from Casalmaggiore and who worked for long time in Milan, and Giovanni Andrea Fioroni, Milanese cathedral choirmaster from 1747 to his death. All of them gave a significant contribution to Milanese instrumental music. The four Sammartini Sonatas are very relevant and were likely composed before Sammartini left for London in 1728. They are performed by Mario Carbotta. This VERMEER is a combination of beauty and musical value.

In this extensive release, Vermeer presents to the public the complete edition of Mozart’s 16 sonatas for violin as performed by two exceptional Chinese artists- violinist Bin Huang, a true star of the international music scene, and pianist Yin Zheng, a very well recognized performer and educator at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York. The sixteen Sonatas have been recorded in an exceptional location: The Mozarteum in Salzburg. This location emphasizes their union with the composer- a kind of union that manifests itself throughout this performance in the elegance and technical perfection of execution furthered by a crystal clear sound. This release is enriched by a wide illustrated Italian-English booklet written by Danilo Prefumo.

This Vermeer album collects five compositions of five German artists; among them only Hans Werner Henze Sonatina and Paul Hindemith Sonata were enough played. Also an open mind and complete performer as Jean-Pierre Rampal never include them in his wide discography, but Fortner, Henze, Genzmer and Höller Sonatas deserve all our interest and curiosity beginning from Wolfang Fortner Sonata (1974) a musician very important during the second half of XX Century having also a leading role in famous Darmstad Ferienkurse and was the teacher of many German musicians. Not less important Harald Genzmer (1909 – 2007) that was Paul Hindemith student at Berlin Hochschule für Musik. The second Sonata for flute and orchestra was composed in 1952 and it can be seen a work of tonal substantial language and it is articulate in only three movimenti. Born in Bamberg in 1907 Karl Höller from 1933 taught at Munich Academy and from 1938 was at Frankfurt Hochschule für Musik and from 1949 to 1972 taught at Munich Conservatory; his wide production, in many ways inspired by Richard Strauss and Hans Pfiztner includes also two flute and piano Sonatas and the most famous of which is the second Sonata in C major op 55 composed in 1955: very poetic and delicate work that seems have a strong French music influence.

This new Vermeer Album can be easily considered a masterpiece or the two pianos literature Claude Debussy En blanc et noir is the focus of inspiration of whole album recorded by Patrizia Montanaro and Michele Serra both composers and performer. these two artist starting from En blanc et noir have written in an absolute original way two works can be seen as an ideal prosecution of Debussy famous work. As conclusion of the album two piano transcriptions of famous works as Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune and Danses sacrée et profane.

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was born in Weimar in 1714 where he grew up under the severe leadership of his father Johann Sebastian receiving a complete musical forming. In 1738 when he was 24 he introduced himself to the Prussian court arousing the admiration of the Crown Prince. In 1740 Federico II succeeded the throne and the new King wanted Carl Philipp Emanuel at his service. For the following 28 years he accompanied the king, who was a flautist, every evening on the harpsichord. According to the musical historian Charles Burney, Carl Philipp Emanuel was not sufficiently appreciated by the King that in terms of composition seemed to prefer Quantz and Graun. Even Carl Philipp composed for the Prussian King a certain number of solo sonatas, trio sonatas and concerts that increased his already vast repertoire whose manuscripts are nowadays preserved in the Berlin State Library. Many of these compositions are known in their “modern“ version- i.e. performed with a metal flute and with the piano instead of harpsichord - and it in is this version that Francesca Pagnini and Annibale Rebaudengo present these works to the audience, giving particular attention to the expressive and interpretative values the extremely modern Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s musical writing puts in continued evidence.

Brahms wrote his two Sonatas op 120 during the Summer of 1984. These works have since come to be considered as some of the finest chamber music written by the German composer. Along with Mozart’s clarinet quintets, these works are also thought of as some of the most important pieces in the clarinet repertoire. In addition to these influential works by Brahms, this release includes Alban Berg’s Sonata for piano Op. 1, and Four pieces for clarinet and piano op 5. The two artists, clarinetist Vincenzo Paci and pianist Jakub Tchorzewski, present in this release a special and unique live recording which was taken in April 2014 at “La Fenice” theater in Venice.

Musicological research has always raised doubts about the authorship of some of Bach’s Sonatas, particularly the BWV 1031, 1033, and 1020, while the others were certainly written by J. S. Bach. Whoever the author of the three dubious Sonatas may be, these are a group of songs that display wonderful artistic and musical qualities, and can easily be considered a point of reference for all flute players. Francesca Pagnini and Annibale Rebaudengo present these Sonatas on modern instruments, enriched by modern philological studies. The recording is of exceptional freshness and spontaneity, and the joy of music is perfectly combined with a performance of rare precision and accuracy. Jerfi Aji s a Turkish pianist who successfully attended the Sicily International Piano Competition, winning the right to publish an album with its affiliated label Vermeer. He is an exceptional pianist, with sensitivity and encompassing cultural awareness; he is also an engineer and speaks four languages fluently. Aji has become one of the most acclaimed Scriabin performers. His comprehension of the great Russian composer reveals itself with a clear understanding of the contemporary quality of Scriabin's works. Aji “reads” and performs Scriabin not as a composer working more than a century ago, but as a contemporary. The tracks on this album, selected and sequenced by the artist following a strict logical and aesthetic path defined by intimacy and asceticism, find their natural end with the fabulous Vers la flamme op. 72, one of the most amazing Scriabin works.
