Takahiro Yoshikawa (piano) writes: "This album features Chopin's works from 1836, 1841 and 1846. Born in 1810 and died at the age of 39, the Polish composer had already established his own style at the age of 26. He was at the height of his maturity at the age of 31 and reached at his later style at the age of 36. It took six years from 2015 to 2021 to record this album, which begins and ends with Nocturnes. It covers Chopin's style from his early years to his later years, and it can be said that this album describes my transition as a pianist, artist, and, if somewhat exaggerated, as a person throughout those six years."

This release is a new recording featuring the brilliant interpretation of Robert Schuman, the main voice of Romanticism, by the pianist Takahiro Yoshikawa. Yoshikawa has already released two albums on the Ypsilon label dedicated to Beethoven and Debussy, both of which received widespread acclaim. The present album scales three peaks of Schuman's piano literature. Fantasiest�cke Op. 12 (Fantasy Pieces), is a set of eight pieces for piano written in 1837 and presented by some critics as "Tales of The Night". They describe, indeed, intimate and disturbing scenes of nightlife where the moonbeams dimmed by the clouds create dreams and nightmares. Kinderszenen Op. 15 (Scenes from Childohood) is a set of thirteen quiet short pieces written in 1838. Waldszene Op. 82 (Forest Scenes) is nine pieces written between 1848 and 1849 characterized by a more profound introspection. With his particular lyricism, Takahiro Yosikawa conjures here an entirely different sound-world moving between a sharp sense of period style and an extraordinary technique giving all the charm and poetry the German composer intended. In all, this album is a tremendous achievement, and is highly enjoyable and desirable.

Like Liszt loved Italy, Takahiro Yoshikawa also dedicates his latest album to the country he loves. Mr. Takahiro Yoshikawa was born in Nishinomiya, Japan. He graduated in pianoforte in 1996 at the State University of Fine Arts and Music of Tokyo under the guidance of MadamTakako Horie. In 1993 he attended a Master class given by the renowned pianist Conrad Hansen in Lubeck (Germany). From 1996 to 1999 he attended In 1999 Master in the same University under the guidance of Mr. Terugi Karashima, where Mr. Takahiro Yoshikawa was awarded the “Bösendorfer” prize. He has won numerous international competitions, and has performed as a soloist at Teatro alla Scala in Milan on several occasions.

Takahiro Yoshikawa, a Japanese pianist who has settled in Milan, presents this new release, which is a double date with Mozart. The concert took place in November 2019 at La Scala alongside the ballet Petite Mort by choreographer Jiri Kylian, which was written in honor of the bicentenary of Mozart’s death. After highly acclaimed romantic and modern recordings dedicated to composers like Beethoven and Liszt, this is Yoshikawa’s first recording dedicated to Mozart. The Japanese label Ypsilon International presents its second recording with the pianist Takahiro Yoshikawa totally devoted to Debussy. Yoshikawa plays Debussy paying close attention to every single detail through an in depth reading of the scores. Due to his extremely sensitive touch and accurate use of the pedals we can perceive a new way of interpreting the works of one of the most important composers in the history of music, even in famous pages such as: Clair de lune di Suite bergamasque or Reflets dans l'eau di Image. The recording, which has already been released in Japan, has received excellent critical and audience reviews.

Up until about twenty years ago it was quite common that a piano recital contained at least one Beethoven Sonata. With the passing of the new millennium this has become rather rare, almost as if the interpreters of the last generations have some sort of uneasiness in taking on such an important repertory with such a formidable tradition of executions behind it. Takahiro Yoshikawa, going against these trends, has dedicated a monographic album to Beethoven in order to offer us a rather fresh and limpid interpretation of these four important Sonates.
