William Byrd’s motet Infelix ego is featured in the album offering several of the great English composer's sacred motets, performed by the outstanding Collegium Vocale Gent, directed by Philippe Herreweghe. The text of Infelix ego by the Dominica Girolamo Savonarola, is a contemplation of guilt and anger leading eventually to the gift of deliverance upon acceptance of Christ. Byrd's setting musically reflects the powerful emotions.
