This new release from CPO is the sixth volume in the Telemann violin concerto series. This installment includes his Concerto in B-Flat Major, Concerto in A Minor, Concerto in F Major, and Concerto in B Minor. Elizabeth Wallfisch performs these works, along with her Wallfisch Band. Elizabeth Wallfisch is a known interpreter of 17th, 18th, and 19th century violin music. She also performs internationally as a concertmaster, soloist, and music director.

Die Koenigin von Saba (The Queen of Sheba) was Karl Goldmark's first opera. It conquered stages across Europe after its premiere in 1875. This production of the opera was recorded at Theater Freiburg, The four act opera stars vocalists Katerina Hebelkova and Nuttaporn Thammathi.

Hungarian composer Ernst von Dohnanyi was also an accomplished pianist. This new release features his works for piano, including his Passacaglia, Op. 6, Four Rhapsodies, and Three Singular Pieces. Accomplished pianist Daniel Rohm has won multiple prizes at international competitions, including the Mozart Foundation of Stuttgart and the Richard Wagner Society.

This new release is the third volume in the complete organ works of Max Reger. German composer Max Reger was also an accomplished organist, and his music for organ is a staple among the repertoire. Organist Cerhard Weinberger performs these works. Weinbergeris also a renowned editor of organ music.

Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehar (1870-1948) is most widely known for his operettas, namely The Merry Widow. Giuditta is an operatic five scene musical comedy, with libretto by Paul Knepler and Fritz Lohner-Beda. It was Lehar's largest and final operetta. The work was premiered in 1934 at the Vienna State Opera. This recording features the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks and the Rundfunkorchester.

Verlangen means Desire, and that is what these artists hope to portray with this new release of Lieder. Compositions include works from Schoenberg, Berg, and Strauss. Maya Boog is known for her lieder interpretations. She has given guest appearances in venues such as the Cologne Philharmonie, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Stuttgart Liederhalle.She is joined by equally notable Michael Lakner.

Jan van Gilse (1881-1944) was a Dutch conductor and composer who is most known for his five symphonies and his Dutch opera Thijl. For this new recording, his Piano Concerto “Drei Tranzskizzen” and Variations on a Saint-Nicolas Song have been chosen. Pianist Oliver Triendl has around 50 CD recordings to his name, and is an advocate of rarely performed repertoire from romantic and classical eras. He is joined here by the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Porcelijn.

As a young child in Silesia, Robert Radecke’s musical talent was recognized and cultivated. His career bloomed in Berlin where he became the Royal Court Opera music director in 1863, and the Royal Chapel Master in 1871. From 1892 until he was seventy-seven years old, Radecke held the post of director of Berlin’s Royal Institute of Church Music. Radecke was personally acquainted with master conductors such as Wagner, Liszt, Schumann, and Strauss. His catalogue includes over 100 songs, chamber music, piano works, symphonies, overtures, sacred hymns, choral works, and organ works. This new release features Radecke’s symphonic pieces. The project was funded by crowd-funding efforts organized in Biel, as well as a donation from the composer’s great-grandson, Christian Radecke.

Swiss composer Friedrich Theodor Frohlich began his compositional career after his poor health forced him to abandon his law studied. He took lessons in Aarau, and then was a student of Carl Friedrich Zelter and Berhard Klein in Berlin. A promising talent, the string quartets featured here show the composer had unique contributions to early romanticism. When his music did not meet the acclaim that he expected, Frohlich unfortunately took his own life at the age of 33.

This new release, featuring the recording premiere of his complete chorale cantatas, is in commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of composer Max Reger’s death. Although raised Catholic, Reger had an early fascination with Protestant music, much to the concern of his family. Regers chorale contributions to the Protestant church cannot be overlooked, and he submitted many compositions to the monthly Monatschrift fur Gottesdienst und kirchliche Kunst.

The Sarastro Quartet presents this new album of Paul Juon’s complete string quartets. Paul Juon has been called the missing link between Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. Juon’s compositional style is shown beautifully in these pieces, which brilliantly display bold harmonies, Russian folk elements, and irregular rhythms.

Unfortunately, the works of Johann Heinrich Rolle are somewhat obscure, and rarely recorded. This new release is the premiere recording of Rolle’s St. Matthew Passion. Composed in 1748, the orchestration is set to text of Martin Luther’s Gospel of St. Matthew translation. The work is performed here by Ensemble Triagonale.

This release follows the album containing Robert Fuchs’ Piano Concerto, Op. 27, and includes two symphonies. After reaching fame after his first serenade, Fuchs was held in high regard by Brahms, and taught composers such as Mahler, Sibelius, and Strauss. This recording features the WDR Sinfonieorchester Koln, conducted by Karl-Heinz Steffens.

The Thomas Christian ensemble, along with pianist Evgeny Sinayskiy, present this album of works by Vasilije Mokranjac (1923-1984). Included on this album are Mokranjac’s String Quartet in D minor, Sonata for Violin & Piano in G minor, Old Song for Violin & Piano in G sharp minor, and Dance for Violin & Piano in E minor. The Thomas Christian Ensemble is Thomas Christian and Fabian Rieser, violin, Gertrud Weinmeister, viola, and Bruno Weinmeister, cello.

This new release features Carl Reinecke’s Die wilden Schwaene (The Wild Swans). This work in sixteen musical numbers is based on a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. Performers on this release include soprano Kirsten Labonte, alto Gerhild Romberger, soprano Shuang Shi, baritone Markus Kohler, and more.
