THE CITY AND THE SEA project is a bridge connecting artists from two corners of the world - a valued American choirmaster and composer, originator of the idea of a virtual choir, Eric Whitacre, and a young Cracow composer - Klaudia Rabiega. The presented works were mostly composed to texts by well-known Anglo-Saxon poets. The compositions fit into the genre of vocal and instrumental chamber music in which the choir is equivalent to the other instruments with the piano keeping the whole together. Klaudia Rabiega knows how to compose choral music; she is perfectly at ease in the polyphonic vocal texture, and her musical language evolves in search of a balance between modern and creative style and simple language accessible to listeners. The project, which includes world premiere recordings, was implemented by excellent musicians associated with the Cracow music scene, and the whole was supervised by the charismatic conductor Andrzej Korzeniowski.

Alexandre Tansman's masterpieces for violin and piano show the evolution of the composer's style as well as his ingenuity and courage in reaching for innovative harmonies and ways of developing the musical dialogue. The interpretations of both artists, known for their solo and chamber music activities, prizewinners of numerous competitions, are almost exemplary creations, captivating with the beauty of sound and the depth of musical understanding. Rusalka is an opera by Antonin Dvorak with libretto by Jaroslav Kvapil. The work is a ‘lyric fairy tale,’ and is based on the fairy tales of Karel Jaromir Erben and Bozena Nemcova, specifically the stories of the Rusalka, water sprites from Slavic mythology that inhabit lakes and rivers. The work is one of the most successful and most widely performed Czech operas, and is a cornerstone in the repertoire of Czech opera houses. The premiere performance took place on March 31, 1901. Magdalena Polkowska is the water nymph Rusalka in this production. Polkowska graduated with honors from the Faculty of Vocal Music and Drama of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. She studied later with world renowned vocalist Cheryl Studer, among others. In 2008, she was the winner of the first prize at the 3rd Polish Iwona Borowicka Operetta and Musical Competition in Krakow. She was a finalist of the Alexander Girardi International Vocal Competition in Coburg, a semi-finalist of the Debut 2010 European Vocal Competition in Weikersheim. Other starring vocalists include Tadeusz Szlenkier as the prince and Jacek Greszta as the water gnome.

The album contains choral works composed by Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz in the years 1946-1988, from the oldest Kurpie Songs, based on traditional melodies and folk texts, to the latest Polish Litany. The evolution of the composer's individual style is visible, but it oscillates within the limits of tonality - from the major-minor tonal system to the extended harmony closely related to the text of the composition in terms of mood. Typical of Paciorkiewicz's work is the combination of strict homophonic texture with rich polyphony as well as the emphasis on the emotional expression of the piece achieved with the help of sophisticated dynamic, harmonic and textural nuances. The Czestochowa Collegium Cantorum Choir is known for, among others, numerous premieres of contemporary music; it has given concerts in several countries and on three continents. Under the baton of the ensemble's founder, Janusz Siadlak, the artists inventively perform songs and religious works, emphasizing the diversity of moods and the proper interpretation of the texts, whose authors include the names of the most outstanding Polish poets.
