Le Voyage imaginaire de Mozart au Japon
Pasticcio
A mysterious opera, an historical piano, two singers, and four instrumentalists. Ensemble Hexaméron presents a rich variety of instrumental and vocal music, thus painting a musical portrait of Paris at the dawn of the nineteenth century; a time when different cultures and genres were at crossroads, and when Mozart was yet to be truly discovered as a composer in France.
Haydn: Complete Flute Trios
Suzanne un Jour - French Lute Music / Tixier
Sixty minutes of lute music with a « meditative » feel, made up of works that are both lighthearted and profound. Pieces by the « old-timers » filled with beauty and elegance have corne down to us, and A\ban Tixier, a professional lutenist, performs them with great generosity.
Fauré, Ravel, Enescu & L. Boulanger: Music for Violin & Piano / Prouvost, Ciocarlie
We know Gabriel Fauré the composer well but little the pedagogue. This recording aims to highlight the influence of the composer in France and even in Europe when, in 1896, he became professor at the Paris conservatory taking over from Massenet. The program of this disc wishes to bring together one of the work of his last period and compositions by his illustrious students: Ravel, Lili Boulanger and Enescu.
Bach: The Cello Suites / Valérie Aimard
Bach's six suites for cello (BWV 1007 to 1012) are considered the must-haves of the instrument's repertoire. In this recording, Valérie Aimard offers a generous version that radiates without ever seeking effect for its own sake. With finesse and subtlety, the performer honors Bach's greatness.
Haydn: String Quartets Op. 54 / Psophos Quartet
Composed in 1788 and considered works of Haydn’s full maturity as a composer, the quartets of Opus 54 immerse us in the bountiful universe of “the Father of the String Quartet”. Like with the Adagio of Op. 54 n° 2, his humanity and profundity fill us with wonder and remind us to what extent the very essence of the string quartet is exalted in this music. 2020 marked a renewal for the Psophos Quartet with the arrival of Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann, and the emergence of various projects driven by a common desire to share, transmit and give body and soul to music.
Founded in 1997 at the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon, the quartet then perfected its skills with the Ysaÿe Quartet and under the aegis of Walter Levin in Basel, enriched its knowledge. Curiosity leads the Psophos Quartet towards new artists, actors and directors. For three years, the Psophos Quartet has been in residence at the Athénée Théâtre Louis Jouvet in Paris where it produces its own series of chamber music concerts.
