This album does not set out to provide an exhaustive overview of the rich heritage of traditional Christmas carols, but offers a programme that combines Nau's carols with instrumental pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries. Louise and Alban Tixier present a freely inspired repertoire. Although the theme centres on traditional Christmas carols, they have selected, above all, works they love, blending tradition and 'art' music at will. As a result, the album transports us to a transitional era, between the Renaissance and the Grand Siecle.

This anthology of Bernard de Vienne's work is a musical portrait of the composer and demonstrates the diversity of the ensembles for which he writes. From his birth in Tunisia and his studies in ethnomusicology, he developed a keen sensitivity to all the world's music, and part of his output bears the mark of this. His interest in philosophy, literature, poetry and the sciences is evident throughout his works. His constant search for new ways of playing, and the pleasure he takes in playing his instrument (the flute), inspire him to compose colourful, imaginative and dynamic works. With the exception of his Fourth Quartet, recorded for this box set, all the pieces on these two discs are live concert recordings and bear witness to his artistic affinities.

« These two concertos by Joseph Haydn are cornerstones of the cello repertoire. For me, they belong to those works that accompany a cellist through the different stages and moments of life. I have always taken immense pleasure in performing them. This music, often described as 'solar,' moves me deeply through it's light, vitality, and energy, but also through a subtle sense of melancholy that occasionally emerges. Recorded both in a single day, the urgency and energy of the session will remain for me an unforgettable and unique memory. » Julie Sevilla-Fraysse

The tracks of this disc contain equally as many sensitive palimpsests (elaborations on an earlier composer's style) through which other emotions vibrate. The transcriptions they present only depart from the letter to better reveal-and revere-it's spirit. Our greatest wish would be that what these admirable pieces lose in authenticity, they recover thanks to the enthusiasm, fervor, and love that have guided us throughout our work. Because, in this field precisely, it is less a question of proving than of experiencing.

This recording is the result of my encounter with the Stephen Paulello Opus 102. From the very first notes, I was captivated by the sound of this piano. I had the wonderful feeling that I could shape the sound, dig into it, and discover it's richness-so that, little by little, it's beauty and depth unfolded beneath my fingers. Rich, transparent, and warm all at once, the Stephen Paulello Opus 102 struck me as the ideal instrument to reveal the essence of J.S. Bach's Art of Fugue.

Dvorak stated elsewhere that he had always remained a simple Bohemian folk musician at heart. Born in 1841, the son of a butcher, he grew up in the countryside. He always heard Bohemian folk tunes, probably even in his mother's womb. Folk music was clearly part of Dvorak's DNA, and a Slavic folklore tone permeates the two works on this CD. 0028948677955 CAVM4867795.2 45383021 .00 17.99 .19 CAVI-MUSIC COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 10/31/2025 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/27/4445227-3422550.jpg 2 1 N BALLESTRA,JEAN-LUC CARRARA: VOCI DA HEBRON Cristian Carrara is one of the most original Italian composers of his generation. The opera Voci da Hebron ('Voices from Hebron') is set during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Carrara's expressive depiction of this scenario is one in which fear, anger and incomprehension sit side-by-side with the need for communication, at a time when dialogue is difficult and peace is, at times, a mirage. This land that is home to grief and misunderstanding is also a place in which love can survive and ultimately flourish. 730099060370 NXS8660603.2 45383519 .00 19.99 .21 NAXOS COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 10/10/2025 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/00/4445400-3422659.jpg 15 1 N TETZLAFF,CHRISTIAN ELGAR & ADES: VN CONS Star-violinist Christian Tetzlaff, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor John Storgards present in this album two major British violin concertos written between a century, in 1910 and 2005. Elgar's passionate violin concerto, completed in 1910, is a classical-romantic violin concerto in three movements. This huge and highly emotional work was in the wake of modernism neglected for several decades before entering into standard concerto repertoire. Here Christian Tetzlaff follows the model of the early recordings of Elgar's concerto with substantially quicker tempos compared to most modern recordings, and having a great influence on the impact of the piece. Ades' violin concerto 'Concentric Paths', is already a modern classic and no doubt one of the most important concertos written during this century. With it's very demanding violin part the work has all the elements of a true concerto, allowing the soloist to sing with his instrument. The beauty of this music lies that everything is written so clearly. 761195148020 OND1480.2 45383533 .00 18.99 .27 ONDINE COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 10/03/2025 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/45/4445745-3422683.jpg 79 1 N BROUQUI,YVES TOGETHER Scott Yanow, jazz journalist/historian and author of 12 books including The Great Jazz Guitarists concluded his liner notes on Brouqui's SteepleChase debut album Mean What You Say SCCD 31979 saying 'The highly enjoyable and consistently swinging outing On the basis of his playing on Mean What You Say, Yves Brouqui deserves to be recognized as a major guitarist in modern mainstream jazz. He and the Spike Wilner Trio make for an ideal team and swing their hearts out.' And here Yves Brouqui returns to SteepleChase with Together, his second leader date. His second SteepleChase date reunites him with Spike Wilner (p) and Paul Gill (b), now with Joe Strasser (ds). Standards and three Brouqui originals move with unhurried assurance. Hank Mobley's This I Dig Of You sets the conversational tone. Brouqui's Steve's Here carries Monkish contours; The Pharmacist offers buoyant stop-time. Lee Morgan's The Joker and Sonny Rollins's If Ever I Would Leave You show his ease with horn repertoire on guitar. We'll Be Together Again opens with solo blues before yielding to quartet interplay. Born in Paris, Aubert became one of the leading instrumental musicians of his generation. He served as a member of the prestigious Vingt-quatre Violons du Roi (the Twenty-Four Violins of the King), was first violinist of the Paris Opera orchestra, and frequently appeared as a soloist at the celebrated Concert Spirituel. His music reflects a successful blend of French elegance and Italian virtuosity, helping to modernize French instrumental style in the first half of the eighteenth century. Although Aubert is best known for his violin sonatas and concertos, several of his sonatas were designed to be performed on either violin or traverso (Baroque flute). His collection Six Sonatas for Traverso and Harpsichord demonstrates the growing popularity of the traverso in France and present the expressive possibilities of the instrument. These sonatas combine graceful French dance movements with the lyrical melodies and technical brilliance associated with the Italian sonata tradition. The six sonatas feature a rich dialogue between the traverso and the harpsichord. Rather than merely accompanying the flute, the harpsichord participates actively in the musical conversation, providing harmonic support, rhythmic vitality, and occasional contrapuntal interplay. The works typically alternate slow and fast movements, allowing performers to explore a wide range of moods, from tender and reflective passages to lively and virtuosic displays. Characteristic Baroque dance forms such as gavottes and gigues also appear, reflecting Aubert's attachment to French musical traditions. Anna Reichhold is a German baroque flutist whose artistic focus lies on the expressive richness of 18th-century music. She studied traverso with Benedek Csalog and participated in masterclasses with Georges Barthel, Marc Hantaï at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, and Barthold Kuijken. Originally from Taiwan, harpsichordist Tung-Han Hu performs with great passion on historical keyboard instruments and has won numerous international competitions, including in Magdeburg, Gottingen, Leipzig, and Bonn. His concert appearances have taken him to renowned festivals such as the Bachfest Leipzig, the Telemann Festival in Magdeburg, and the MA Festival Bruges. He studied harpsichord with Prof. Mitzi Meyerson in Berlin and continued his training in harpsichord, fortepiano, and chamber music with Prof. Christine Schornsheim in Munich, graduating with distinction. 5063758701006 BRLT70100.2 46684714 .00 12.99 .24 BRILLIANT CLASSICS COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 01/01/2027 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/81/4550681-3740439.jpg 0 1 N AMPHON NOVUS EARLY MUSIC ENSEMBLE MONFERRATO: MOTETTI A VOCE SOLA LIBRO PRIMO OP. 4 From the early 17th century onwards, the polyphonic motet that had dominated sacred music in previous centuries found itself complemented in both liturgical and devotional contexts by a new, more stream- lined form: the solo motet. This allowed prayer and meditation to be accompanied by music even in places where maintaining a stable polyphonic choir was impractical or economically unfeasible. At the same time, composers were afforded greater freedom to align with the emerging 'modern taste' of the time, which valued the expressive power of a single voice supported by organ or other continuo instruments over the contrapuntal interplay of multiple voices. This modern aesthetic increasingly prioritized the transmission of 'affetti,' seen as essential for the true expression of a text. The compositions presented on this CD by the Ensemble Amphion Novus, a premiere recording on an edition prepared specifically for this occasion, exemplify precisely this direction. 8007194108361 TCS611301.2 45383748 .00 21.99 .19 TACTUS RECORDS COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 11/28/2025 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/04/4446504-3422685.jpg 12 1 N FRANKFURT RADIO SYMPHONY SHOSTAKOVICH: SYMS NOS. 4 & 5 - COMPLETE SYMS V. 1 Alain Altinoglu and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra have begun to record the complete symphonies of Shostakovich, starting with his Fourth and Fifth symphonies. Shostakovich dared to express human suffering, passion, fear and catastrophe in his music, but always asking the same nagging question: what is man? In this sense, these two symphonies open with a question - an idea of martyrdom that was to become one of the central ideas of his later symphonies and, of course, of his Lady MacBeth of Mzensk. Both symphonies are dated between 1935-1937 when Shostakovich was in his thirties; this was one of the darkest and most difficult phases of his life, marked as it was by the repercussions of some of his writings and the arrest of many people close to him, including members of his family. 3701624511732 ALLP1173.2 45424403 .00 29.99 .19 ALPHA COMPACT DISCS CLASSICAL ORCHESTRAL & SYMPHONIC 11/28/2025 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/40/4449240-3432591.jpg 0 2 N KIRSCHNEREIT,MATTHIAS WAGNER LIAISONS The German star pianist Matthias Kirschnereitdedicates this album entirely to the piano cosmos of Richard Wagner?. How can we live without Mozart's music? It has the power to change our lives and our view of the world. Mozart is a necessity. As children, we already listened to him, and this growing complicity lent itself particularly well to the game of dreaming. Who hasn't whispered to themselves, «What if...»? This is how we imagined Wolfgang travelling to Japan. This uchrony gave us the idea of combining our instruments with the koto, a traditional Japanese instrument, and uniting the two piano quartets with transcriptions of overtures from his operas and pieces written specifically for this project by two great Japanese composers. This journey offers an open view of a Japan so little known in Mozart's time, thanks to five imaginary letters written by the erudite and facetious writer Richard Collasse, author of the Dictionnaire amoureux du Japon and novels set in Japan. Finally, this strange odyssey bears witness to Mozart's infinite source of inspiration for artistic creation, with illustrations by Setsuko Klossowska de Rola and those made by her late husband, the painter Balthus, for the sets of Cosi fan tutte in 1959. What if Mozart had gone to Japan? Let's read and listen.

Many of the trios featured in this boxed set testify to the composer's new interest in the wind instrument, known instead as one of the absolute masters of the string quartet. They were either originally conceived in this way, or transcribed in his own hand, or were published for the first time in England. Could he have intended this choice to honour the particular taste shown for this instrument by London's aristocratic milieu?... This hypothesis is highly admissible: the transverse flute, in fact, before the great changes in it's construction pushed it out of the catalogues of most of the great composers, had ardent followers, including King Frederick II of Prussia, himself a remarkable flautist... And while the difficulty of performance and the originality of the language of these trios may have baffled some performers of the time, they delighted instrumentalists (and composers) justly renowned for their virtuosity, such as the violinist Gavinies in France and the flutist Tromlitz and the violinist Stamitz in Germany. The music of these nineteen trios is full of wit, verve and agility, tenderness and restrained passion.

Composed in 1788 and considered works of Haydn’s full maturity as a composer, the quartets of Opus 54 immerse us in the bountiful universe of “the Father of the String Quartet”. Like with the Adagio of Op. 54 n° 2, his humanity and profundity fill us with wonder and remind us to what extent the very essence of the string quartet is exalted in this music. 2020 marked a renewal for the Psophos Quartet with the arrival of Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann, and the emergence of various projects driven by a common desire to share, transmit and give body and soul to music.

Founded in 1997 at the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon, the quartet then perfected its skills with the Ysaÿe Quartet and under the aegis of Walter Levin in Basel, enriched its knowledge. Curiosity leads the Psophos Quartet towards new artists, actors and directors. For three years, the Psophos Quartet has been in residence at the Athénée Théâtre Louis Jouvet in Paris where it produces its own series of chamber music concerts.

This release pays homage to the Franco-Belgian school of violin. In the tradition of the famous sonata by Franck, Vincent d’Indy’s sonata is associated on this album with the sonata of his disciple, the Belgian Albert Dupuis: a revelation, and a world premiere recording. The album also includes an Andante by the young d’Indy and a superb piece by Ermend-Bonnal. Éliane Reyes (June 7, 1977 in Verviers) is a Belgian pianist who is known both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She is also currently Professor of Piano at both the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles (Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur, in Paris. In 2016 she was designated a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, by the French government. Violinist Gaëtane Prouvost studied at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris with Roland Charmy and Jean Hubeau. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School in New York with Ivan Galamian and Samuel Rhodes. She is one of the flagship artists of the Les Estivales en Puisaye classical music festival under the direction of Rémi Gousseau , which has been held every year since 2002 in Puisaye, in Yonne, Nièvre and Loiret.
