Spyro Gyra - Live In Leverkusen 2022 - This fantastic live album from the Leverkusen Jazz Days on November 7, 2022, features one of the most successful U.S. jazz fusion bands, Spyro Gyra. For Spyro Gyra's performance at the Leverkusen Jazz Days on November 7, 2022, the band's lineup consisted of Jay Beckenstein (saxophone), Tom Schuman (keyboards, piano), Julio Fernandez (guitars), Scott Ambush (bass), and Lionel Cordew (drums, percussion). "Art manifests itself in a variety of styles and contexts. That's why we started making music in the first place, " is Spyro Gyra's philosophy. And the band's live program that evening in Leverkusen was just as diverse, including their big hits "Shaker Song" and "Morning Dance.

The music is less frenzied and aggressive than listeners may be used to, as the musicians shared their exploration of new tools with a more contemplative approach. To be sure, both Br�tzmann and Nilssen-Love summon the usual energy here and there, but it's a genuine revelation to hear them feel out new sounds in real-time, whether it's the former caressing the rheumy nasality of the contra-alto clarinet, or the latter reveling in the sustained resonance of his new gongs. Still, even if they were trying out new tools, their rapport and level of engagement was just as strong and deep as ever. Colliding schedules prevented them from ever wrapping up the production on the album, but they began planning for it during the pandemic. Sadly, it fell to Nilssen-Love to shepherd the project at home, but it was worth the wait. This duo album represents a major statement from both musicians. Both worlds : two worlds... at the same time ! As in "the best of both worlds," where one undoubtedly wants to have everything but also offer the best of each universe. Both Worlds, a new step for Michel Petrucciani, or how to juxtapose distinct (id)entities and bring together the best of reciprocal elements, for the duration of a tour, a record, a wide-scale project. Dualism, then, but also balance. Geographical, from Paris to New York, and cultural, with three European musicians and three Americans. Both Worlds is clearly the testimony of the fruitful encounter between two worlds, between a composer and an arranger; the collaboration of two creative spaces that are dissimilar yet compatible. For the first time in his career, Michel Petrucciani entrusted his most accomplished compositions to another tailor of jazz and poet of made-to-measure, Bob Brookmeyer. The result is a magical undertaking, retaining that particularly distinctive "two worlds" character in the pianist's work: a writing imbued with classics and standards, over one of the most modern rhythm sections. Joy, melancholy, humor and moods, this recording displays a rich emotional palette and a few nods to Rodgers & Hart (Petite Louise), Return to Forever (35 Seconds of Music and More), Maurice Chevalier (On Top of the Roof) and Hollywood musicals (Chlo� Meets Gershwin referring to A Foggy Day and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers by Johnny Mercer). Within an abundant discography, Both Worlds innovates and profiles the pianist's work in a new light. For the first time as well, Michel Petrucciani assembles a genuine group and builds a homogeneous formation where his presence and role are no longer perceived as dominant elements. While in many of his previous records the piano seemed to leap out of the rhythm section for an obvious highlighting, Both Worlds deliberately inserts Petrucciani within the group, and makes the pianist an integrated element of the whole, allowing him to be the leader without acting like one. Another novelty: Michel Petrucciani uses the horns here as never before; they no longer intervene only as soloists but in a new context, as accompaniment and counterpoint. If this record could only come to life thanks to an intense collaboration between composer and arranger, the unexpected production work of drummer Steve Gadd surely contributed to it's creation. Thanks to his experience in the most diverse contexts and to a solid friendship with Michel Petrucciani, he was able to provide knowledgeable suggestions and above all appropriate structural ideas. Bruce Harris & Ehud Asherie - Thank You, Barry Harris! A loving tribute to the legendary jazz pianist Barry Harris who's life was dedicated to upholding the traditions of Bebop, his sacred music. This album pays tribute to the legendary jazz pianist and Griot, Barry Harris. A Griot, rooted in West African culture, is a hereditary storyteller tasked with preserving genealogies, historical narratives, and oral traditions through praise songs. For Barry, Bebop was his sacred music, and he dedicated his life to upholding it's traditions.

Double vinyl LP set pressed at 45rpm. The legendary album by IN+OUT from 1989, remastered from the original recordings in a 45rpm 2 LP Audiophile Deluxe Edition. This album, recorded during a month-long European tour in 1987, captures Woody in peak form playing with a spirit and a sense of adventure that identify him as a jazz giant. Woody calls the trumpet "the prince of all the horns". Woody is the king of all the trumpet players. Nobody around plays with such a big, round, ravishing sound - a sound which could easily fool you into thinking that you are listening to a flugelhorn. Woody's musical asociates on this album are Alex Deutsch, a young drummer from Austria who has worked in Europe with many American jazz stars and who, at the time of writing, is studying at the Berklee School in Boston; Neil Swainson, a highly gifted bassist from Toronto who has worked with Pat La Barbera and Peter Leitch but is perhaps best known for his superb collaboration with George Shearing; and Fred Henke, a pianist from Montreal whose credits include backing Clifford Jordan, Steve Grossman and Junior Cock.

Acid jazz founding figure Chris Bangs and former Style Council founding member Mick Talbot return with their new album Smokin' Aces, featuring 12 new tracks, with Bangs & Talbot joined by instrumentalists and voices from all over the world. It follows their acclaimed 2022 duo-billed debut album Back To Business and two rapid sell-out 7" singles "Sumthin' Else" and "K-Jee." Chris Bangs coined the term 'acid jazz' and was a prominent figure on the early scene, before an extensive production and DJ career, alongside the likes of Yada Yada, Quiet Boys and Paul Weller. Mick Talbot is one of the UK's top keyboard players. After founding the Style Council with Weller, he went on to play with Merton Parkas, before embarking on a preeminent session career. Smokin' Aces is an uplifting, contemporary fusion of genres and influence, distilling these sounds to create a timeless Acid Jazz album - "retrophonic but contemporary at the same time," says Talbot.

On his debut 'Buddy!' bassist Stephen Parisi Jr. Honors the mentors, family, and scenes that shaped his musical voice-from his Buffalo roots to his life in Chicago. Philip Catherine is a guitarist. He released his debut album, Stream, in 1972. He and guitarist Larry Coryell recorded and toured as an acoustic duo. The same year, when Jan Akkerman abruptly left Focus, Catherine replaced him in the band. The following year, he recorded with Charles Mingus, who dubbed him "Young Django". In the early 1980s, he toured with Benny Goodman. He was in trio with Didier Lockwood and Christian Escoud�, then in a trio with Chet Baker. During the 1990s, he recorded three albums with trumpeter Tom Harrell.

Jeremy Pelt's latest recording is one of his most culturally aware and musically astute projects yet. Pelt observes in his liner notes that the social realities "in these United States all but force you to constantly examine the virtues and contributions of your own community, if only for the sake of positive reinforcement... and the music I've produced herein for the world to hear seeks to be a part of that positive reinforcement." That perspective, echoed in his multi-volume book series "Griot: Examining the Lives of Jazz's Great Storytellers," anchors a program that balances cultural heritage with musical innovation. Pelt's compositions flow effortlessly across straight-ahead neo-bop, spacious ballads, post-impressionist color, and the tasteful integration of electronics. Legendary bassist Buster Williams and acclaimed drummer Lenny White bring deep authority and experience, giving the album it's solid grounding, while pianist Orrin Evans supplies a modern harmonic foundation that keeps the music vibrant and alive, as Lasse Corson sprinkles in subtle electronic colors. The result is a thrilling, forward-looking statement from a trumpeter and composer whose voice continues to grow with purpose, presence, and unmistakable personality.

This album traces melodies that stretch freely and without boundary, capturing the expressive openness of a first trio recording made in New York under the production of Makoto Ozone. Led by pianist Kento Tsubosaka, the project reflects a journey shaped by deep study and international experience: after graduating from Keio University, Tsubosaka moved to the United States, was selected for the Berklee Global Jazz Institute under artistic director Danilo P�rez, and graduated as valedictorian from Berklee College of Music in 2019. Following his return to Japan, he has remained active as part of Makoto Ozone's young musician development project "From Ozone till Dawn, " while debuting in May 2024 with the all-original solo piano album When I Sing, also produced by Ozone. This trio album, recorded in June 2025 in New York, reunites that creative partnership and brings together drummer Dave King-known for his work with The Bad Plus and the Julian Lage Trio-and bassist Charlie Lincoln, a longtime musical collaborator since Tsubosaka's Berklee years. Comprised entirely of original compositions, the album delivers fresh, vivid interplay that recalls the spirit of the Ornette Coleman Trio and the 1960s Keith Jarrett Trio, balancing freedom and structure with striking clarity. Recorded on June 17 and 18, 2025 at The Samurai Hotel in New York, and housed in artwork newly illustrated by Michiaki Mochizuki, the album stands as a confident statement of creative independence and modern jazz expression.

Rich Brown bought his first six-string bass in 1999, "Everyone made fun of me" he recalls with a characteristically warm smile - since then he's established a reputation as first-call player for the leaders of an impressive variety of adventurous projects, from Steve Coleman to Rudresh Mahanthappa to James 'Blood' Ulmer. Over the past two years, whenever time allows, he's been paying regular visits to the studio of his friend, the guitarist and producer Elmer Ferrer. Away from the pressures of the commercial industry, Rich seized the opportunity to explore and expand the vocabulary of his instrument. 'NYAEBA' took shape: written and performed entirely on the bass guitar. Rich drew inspiration from the many remarkable musicians he's supported as a bassist, or encountered in the richly multicultural music scene in his adopted hometown of Toronto. Throughout the album, the commitment to melody and story ensures that the technique, though prodigious, never overshadows the tale. Each tune was built up with multiple tracks in the studio, with no looping or sequencing involved. The sonic versatility on display is astounding, but the album retains the organic, intimate feel of a performance. This album will no doubt sit comfortably among the essential solo bass albums, showcasing what's possible on the instrument. While many solo bass records center the instrument itself, what's unique about Rich's approach is that he puts the composition and music first, using the electric bass as the vehicle. Gareth Lockrane's reputation as a flautist, composer and arranger ensures that he's in constant demand for a wide range of top-end musical projects, from international touring stars to Hollywood movie soundtracks, but he's equally renowned for his dedication to education and mentorship. It's an attitude of total engagement that somehow also includes time for a constant process of exploring, writing and arranging his own music. The Gareth Lockrane Big Band has been the vehicle for that music since the band's formation in 2008. Following on from their 2017 debut 'Fistfight At The Barn Dance' the new album 'Box Of Tricks' was honed on the bandstand and recorded in a single day in Livingston Studio. It presents the all-star band romping through a set of original compositions that effortlessly blend the sincerity and freedom of improvisation with an intricacy of detail and precision of delivery that delights and astonishes at every turn. All the tunes balance rich, deep arrangements with spontaneous improvisation from the array of star soloists. Motion I is the debut album from Out Of/Into, the collective formerly known as The Blue Note Quintet, featuring pianist Gerald Clayton, alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, vibraphonist Joel Ross, drummer Kendrick Scott, and bassist Matt Brewer. The band was formed in celebration of Blue Note Records' 85th Anniversary and embarked on an extensive U.S. tour in 2024 during which they honed a distinctive, progressive sound that is the perfect embodiment of the Blue Note ethos. "Blue Note has been such a wonderful home for the community, for incredible musicians, for creativity, for all these years," says Clayton. "You can't help but think about all those masters, all those heroes that you've grown up listening to. To get a chance to pay tribute and try to carry some of that essence forward is truly just an honor."
