Ike Quebec - "The Complete 45 Sessions (Blue Note Tone Poet Edition)". The Complete Blue Note 45 Sessions of Ike Quebec collects a phenomenal body of work produced between 1959-62 by a key player in the Blue Note Story. The saxophonist had recorded for Blue Note and served as a talent scout in the 1940s before personal problems forced him off the scene. Alfred Lion began to reintroduce Quebec's music to jazz fans in 1959 with a series of 45 jukebox singles that were well received and revealed a formidable stylist very much at the top of his game with a full-throated, yet relaxed sound ideally suited to a range of material from ballads to blues. This Blue Note Tone Poet Edition 2-CD set is produced by Joe Harley in all-analog from Rudy Van Gelder's original master tapes.

As the world sinks deeper into screens and algorithms blur the line between creation and imitation, Nubiyan Twist return with Chasing Shadows, a record that reclaims the pulse, warmth and spontaneity of human connection. The band's fifth studio album is a rich and restless blend of jazz, afrobeat, hip hop and electronic textures, exploring the space between the organic and the digital. It's music that moves, sweats, and breathes, made by real people in real rooms with heavyweight features bringing together varied voices from the music community which they inhabit. Bandleader and producer Tom Excel explains: "We wanted to make something that felt joyous and defiantly human - something that couldn't exist without that connection between people. You can get an AI to write a fugue in seconds, but it can't capture the chemistry and chaos that happens when musicians lock in together. Chasing Shadows is our way of holding onto that. " Folowing 2024's acclaimed Find Your Flame, praised by Roling Stone, Jazzwise, NPR and more, Chasing Shadows pushes the band's sound further into new soulful territory under Exce l's expert guidance, featuring bright new vocalist Eniola and a glowing cast of icons and innovators. Malian star Fatoumata Diawara lights up the title track on a powerful slice of Afrobeat, Joe Armon Jones leads the dub workout 'Rhythm Of You' and the band take it back to their hip hop roots on great colabs with The Pharcyde's Booty Brown, Ghanaian MC M. anifest and London dancehal favourite, Mr Wi liamz. On Chasing Shadows, Nubiyan Twist continue to look outwards with their music but keep the focus firmly on humanity and positivity. It is an album which crosses continents and which shamelessly celebrates our co lective strength. Fifth album from UK-based co lective Nubiyan Twist led by bandleader & producer Tom Excel (Africa Express, Onipa).

Mike Ledonne's Groover Quartet - Turn It Up! Live At The Sidedoor! - Double Album Alert! CD 1 Turn it Up! LIVE At The Sidedoor! (2025) CD 2 Anniversary Quartet (2000) Mike LeDonne's Groover Quartet returns! Featuring Mike LeDonne on Hammond B3 Organ, Eric Alexander on tenor saxophone, Peter Bernstein on guitar and Joe Farnsworth on drums. Celebrating more than twenty-five years together as jazz's preeminent organ group, this New York-based ensemble's broad repertoire choice, swinging ethos, and dynamic performance style has helped establish them as peerless in their standard bearing of this classic jazz style. Within jazz today, it is rare indeed when a musical group can remain intact for long stretches of time with limited changes of personnel. Groover Quartet have managed this for 20 years. When Mike LeDonne's Groover Quartet recorded the Anniversary Quartet in 2004 it was back when they first started really focusing on using tunes by the R&B groups Mike grew up listening to and making them into vehicles for swinging and for improvisation. The Original Groover Quartet, or "OGQ" are some of the baddest cats on the planet bar none. They have been friends for decades, started their families during their time together and have been all over the world as a group. They are a musical family and you can hear that in the music. In 2024 the quartet arrived at the wonderfully intimate club "The Side Door" to record a new live album in front of an audience that simply loves jazz. As ever, the band members showed their virtuosity and unique styles, whilst proving once again that the Groover Quartet in full flow is something to behold!

Recorded in February and March of 1963 and released later that year, Jazz Samba Encore reunites Stan Getz with Luiz Bonf? & Maria Toledo in a more intimate setting than the landmark Jazz Samba, shaped by Bonf?'s darker harmonic palette, Toledo's distinctive vocal and percussive presence, and Getz's warm, unhurried lyricism. Blending Bonf?'s originals with works by Ant?nio Carlos Jobim, the album deepens the evolving dialog between Brazilian songcraft and American jazz phrasing, with Bonf?'s nylon-string guitar providing a subtle rhythmic and harmonic anchor and Toledo adding textural and emotional nuance. Featuring Jobim on several tracks, the session captures bossa nova's transition from global sensation to mature artistic exchange, resulting in one of Getz's most atmospheric and enduring Verve recordings. Verve Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.

Released on Impulse! Records in 1966, Ascension stands as one of Coltrane's most radical and influential works. Subtitled "Edition I & II" to reflect the two complete takes recorded at the session, the piece is a nearly 40-minute large-ensemble performance marking his embrace of the avant-garde. Recorded on June 28, 1965 at Rudy Van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs studio and produced by Bob Thiele, the session assembled an expanded ensemble of 11 musicians. Alongside Coltrane's tenor sax are trumpeters Freddie Hubbard & Dewey Johnson; saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, Marion Brown, John Tchicai, & Archie Shepp; pianist McCoy Tyner; bassists Art Davis & Jimmy Garrison; and drummer Elvin Jones. Initially controversial for it's intensity, Ascension is now recognized as a landmark of modern jazz and a defining statement of the emerging free-jazz movement. Presented together on 2-LP for the first time, the Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

There's a rare acoustic alchemy at play in Time Is A Blind Guide. At times, the group's three string instruments make up a firm trio-unit that enters into thoughtful dialog with piano and percussion, but for the most part, the group's pulse works as a whole, with each instrument dynamically gliding in and out of the picture, captured in well-known acoustics of Rainbow Studio. The album, recorded at Rainbow Studio, Oslo in 2021, and mixed in Munich in 2024, was produced by Manfred Eicher.
