Oh Snap is the new album from the McArthur Fellow and 3-time Grammy winning singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Cecile McLorin Salvant. Oh Snap features twelve original songs by Salvant-plus one short "cover" of a verse from the Commodores' 1977 hit "Brick House"-mostly recorded outside of a traditional studio environment. The album features longtime musical collaborators Sullivan Fortner, Yasushi Nakamura, and Kyle Poole, as well as cameos from singers June McDoom and Kate Davis. The album is an eclectic mix of genres from indie to folk to jazz to experimental pop, all anchored by Salvant's otherworldly voice. Oh Snap shows that she will never be pigeonholed into one genre and proves, once again, that Salvant is one of the most daring and creative artists currently making music.

Nonesuch Records releases mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile's Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2 on November 7, 2025. The two-LP album comprises Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004; Sonata No. 3 in C major, BWV 1005; and Partita No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006. For his second recording of Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas, twelve years after the first volume, Chris Thile opted for a more personal approach to the revered master composer's works. This time, he allowed himself to take liberties with the scores, which he recorded in multiple, somewhat untraditional, locations of personal significance: Reservoir Studios and Tompkins Square Park in New York City; Farrell Recital Hall at Murray State University in Murray, KY; and Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN.

Cecile McLorin Salvant's First Orchestral Album, 'With Every Breath I Take'-Featuring Metropole Orkest Conducted by Jules Buckley. Cecile McLorin Salvant's With Every Breath I Take is due June 2026, on Nonesuch Records. The album, Salvant's first with orchestra, features The Netherlands' Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley. Salvant and the ensemble perform timeless songs newly arranged by composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue. The album's title track, written by Cy Coleman and David Zippel, is available today along with a lyric video, which may be seen here. Salvant tours internationally throughout the summer and fall.

2021 release. On Jeremy Denk's Mozart Piano Concertos, Denk is joined by The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra for two Mozart concertos-No. 25 in C Major, K. 503 and No. 20 in D minor, K. 466-bookending the composer's solo Rondo in A minor, K. 511.

Commissioned by NASA for the Kronos Quartet and featuring pre-recorded sounds from the plasma around planets, Terry Riley's Sun Rings is about as close an experience to being in space as it is possible to be. The ten-movement 'spacescape', as Riley refers to it, is a multimedia work for quartet and chorus, opening with recorded audio of the static heard from radio emissions in space. These are all triggered by members of the quartet's hand movements over sensors.

Composed in 1976, Music for 18 Musicians has become a cornerstone of 20th century repertoire in general and percussion music in particular, and has been cited as the seed that ultimately spawned ambient trance music created by admiring practitioners like Orbital, Aphex Twin and the Orb. Originally available only as a volume in Steve Reich's 1997 10-CD boxed set, this new digital recording of the composer's signature opus is now available as a single-disc release.

2022 release. Nonesuch Records releases the first recordings of Steve Reich's Runner (2016) and Music for Ensemble and Orchestra (2018), performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conducted by Susanna Malkki. Reich says Runner is written "for a large ensemble of winds, percussion, pianos, and strings. While the tempo remains more or less constant, there are five movements, played without pause, that are based on different note durations." Music for Ensemble and Orchestra is an extension of the Baroque concerto grosso where there is more than one soloist," the composer continues. "Here there are twenty soloists-all regular members of the orchestra, including the first stand strings and winds, as well as two vibraphones and two pianos. The piece is in five movements, though the tempo never changes, only the note value of the constant pulse in the pianos. Thus, an arch form: sixteenths, eighths, quarters, eighths, sixteenths. Music for Ensemble and Orchestra is modeled on my Runner, which has the same five movement form."

Vinyl LP pressing. 2022 release. Classical singer Julia Bullock makes her solo recording debut, Walking in the Dark. Bullock is joined on the album by London's Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Christian Reif for Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and an aria from John Adams's El Nino. With Reif on piano she also performs a traditional spiritual and songs by Oscar Brown, Jr.; Billy Taylor; and Sandy Denny. The first track released is an interpretation of the Connie Converse song "One by One," whose lyrics are featured in the album title.

DIFFERENT TRAINS / ELECTRIC COUNTERPOINT

2014 release from the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer. Co-commissioned for and recorded by Alarm Will Sound, the title piece references two songs by the English band Radiohead. Alan Pierson conducts this premiere recording of Radio Rewrite, which was composed in 2012. The album also includes recordings of Electric Counterpoint (1987) and Piano Counterpoint, which is a 2011 transcription by Vincent Corver of Reich's 1973 Six Pianos; the works are performed, respectively, by Radiohead's guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, and pianist Vicky Chow, who is a member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars.

SYMPHONY NO 3

Thomas Ades' Dante-a ballet score in three parts based on Dante Alighieri's La Divina Commedia-was recorded by the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel at a concert performance last spring at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Nonesuch Records releases the album, the work's premiere audio recording, on April 21, 2023. Dante was first performed at the Royal Opera House as part of Wayne McGregor's The Dante Project for the Royal Ballet, with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and with designs by visual artist Tacita Dean. The piece's three parts are "Inferno, " "Purgatorio, " and "Paradiso. "Dante is inspired by the alternately chilling and sunlit landscapes of La Divina Commedia. Written in the fourteenth century, this seminal Italian poem recounts an initiatory journey through hell, purgatory, and paradise. McGregor and Ades bring the medieval Christian fantasy to life with a narrative arc about a young woman named Beatrice who embodies a promise of love and hope. Opera National de Paris, where Dudamel is Music Director, performs The Dante Project this April and May; the London Philharmonic features Dante's first part performs "Inferno" performs on a February 22 concert program conducted by Ades.

Double vinyl LP pressing. 2017 release, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer. The album comprises works by J.S. Bach originally written for keyboard instruments, plus one sonata for viola da gamba. In 2011, Ma, Thile, and Meyer-along with Stuart Duncan-collaborated on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which won two Grammy Awards. Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer's first recording together was the 1996 album Appalachia Waltz, which also featured fiddler Mark O'Connor; that album was followed by Appalachian Journey, also with O'Connor, in 2000. Thile then joined Meyer on Ma's 2008 holiday album, Songs of Joy and Peace, before the trio reunited, along with Stuart Duncan, for The Goat Rodeo Sessions, an album of original tunes drawing from the musicians' backgrounds in bluegrass, classical, and American roots music. As Ma told Billboard at that time: "How often do you work with people who are master virtuosos and also master improvisers and composers, who know at least two musical traditions unbelievably well?" He continued, "It's just extraordinary when you have people who can actually show on their instruments what they're thinking at any moment, without a delay. As soon as you think it, it gets transferred in your neuromusculature immediately into sound."

This 26 CD/ 1 DVD box set featuring recordings spanning four decades of the composer's career with Nonesuch Records and sixty years of his career. The collection ranges from Reich's It's Gonna Rain (1965) to first recordings of his two latest works: Jacob's Ladder (2023) and Traveler's Prayer (2020). Two extensive booklets contain new essays by longtime Nonesuch President Robert Hurwitz, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, Steve Reich and Musicians percussionist Russell Hartenberger, producer Judith Sherman, and composer Nico Muhly, as well as a comprehensive listener's guide by pianist and composer Timo Andres.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2024 release. Nonesuch Records releases Rectangles and Circumstance, an album of ten songs co-written and performed by Caroline Shaw and So Percussion. The album follows their 2021 Grammy Award-winning Nonesuch debut, Narrow Sea, and their first record as a band, 2021's Let the Soil Play It's Simple Part, with Shaw on vocals backed by So-Eric Cha-Beach, Josh Quillen, Adam Sliwinski, and Jason Treuting. Grammy-winning engineer Jonathan Low (The National, Taylor Swift) co-produced with them on both Let the Soil... and Rectangles and Circumstance. Sliwinski says. "For this album, Caroline, Eric, and I sourced a group of nineteenth-century poems that shaped it's expressive mode [and] ended up using verses by Christina Rosetti, Emily Bronte, Emily Dickinson, Gertrude Stein, and William Blake... The lyrics on this album by members of the band contain wordplay that explores the same profound feelings explored by Blake and Dickinson."
