Marie-Claudine Papadopoulos (b. 1987) began studying the violin at age five. +From 2003-11 she studied with Prof. Ulf Hoelscher. +She is presently studying with Prof. Roman Nodel at the Music Academy, Mannheim. +At the 2012 violin competition “Tone and Explanation – Work Mediation in Music and Words” of the Cultural Circle of German Business and Industry, Ms. Papadopoulos won first prize, which forms the basis of the present CD, a program of duets with her brother, the pianist Dmitri Papadopoulos.

Baroque violinist Rudiger Lotter has established himself within a few years as one of the leading and most versatile representatives of his field. The Herald Tribune calls him a most highly cultivated representative of Early Music. This is his sixth release with Oehms Classics.

The 6th symphony of Gustav Mahler was written between 1903 and 1904, mostly in Vienna, in a period of professional success and private happiness. But musically, the "Tragic", as the symphony is sometimes called seems like a bizarre reversal of Mahler's life reality. Or as an anticipation of future tragedies: the death of the daughter, the diagnosis of Mahler's heart disease and the profound occupational crisis at the Vienna Court Opera. They should soon end Mahler's short luck abruptly. In retrospect these three strokes of fate were identified with the famous hammer blows of the final movement. Alma Mahler wrote in her memoirs to the symphony: "No work has flowed from his heart so directly. The Sixth is his most personal work and a prophetic one on top of that." In mid-May 2019, Essen's General Music Director Tom� Netopil conducted the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra on two acclaimed performances of the Sixth Symphony. The work was performed almost exactly 113 years earlier, on May 27, 1906, by the same orchestra under the composer's direction.

The award-winning Italian harpist Cristina Bianchi has been exploring the works of Domenico Scarlatti for many years, and on this album she demonstrates for the listener the inexhaustible wealth of his compositions. The programme's other titles are largely unknown, or rarely performed on harp: Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Twelve Variations on the Folie d'Espagne, for example, and the Harp Sonata by Germaine Tailleferre. There's also a real treasure in the Three Pr�ludes by Alexander Baltin, a contemporary Russian composer. Stylistically, his very personal musical idiom reflects the great Russian musical tradition.

Organist Hansjorg Albrecht and his sound engineer Martin Fischer have collaborated again on a set of new Richard Wagner organ transcriptions. This time Albrecht plays the celebrated Woehl organ in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche in Munich. The transcriptions are by the young composer Axel Langmann, and by Edwin Henry Lemare. The Overtures to Die Feen and Das Liebesverbot are heard in world premiere recordings. Hansjorg Albrecht has released more than 20 albums on OehmsClassics, both as conductor and organist. They include the complete recording of Walter Braunfels' orchestral songs, which received many positive comments from the international media; and Richard Wagner's Ring ohne Worte in the orchestral version by Lorin Maazel, which was nominated for the German Record Critics' Prize. Hansjorg Albrecht was also nominated for a Grammy award in 2013 in the category Best Classical Instrumental Solo for his organ recording of Gustav Holst's The Planets.

Peter E�tv�s (b. 1944) is one of the most renowned Hungarian composers and conductors of our times. The libretto for his Tri sestry ('Three Sisters') was written by Claus H. Henneberg, together with the composer, and the opera is based on Chekhov's 1901 play of the same name. The production is directed by conductor Dennis Russell Davies and his co-conductor, Frankfurt's Kapellmeister Nikolai Petersen. Oper Frankfurt followed the composer's original intentions for the three sisters, casting internationally successful countertenors in the roles: American Ray Chenez as Irina, Canadian David D. Q. Leeas Mascha, and the Russian Dmitry Egorovas Olga. 'All three countertenors worked conclusively and vocally differentiated the characteristic peculiarities of their character. This is where two one-hit-wonders of nineteenth-century Italian opera meet. Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana was first performed in Rome in 1890 and Leoncavallo Pagliacci in Milan two years later. The subject of the Cavalleria rusticana is based on a then very popular peasant tragedy by Giovanni Verga. Pagliacci draws on the play "La femme de Tabarin" by Catulle Mend�s, with the libretto by the composer. Both operas premiered on 29.09.2018 at the Oper Graz with the Grazer Philharmoniker under the direction of Oksana Lyniv.

This series marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner, which falls in 2024. It’s dedicated to Bruckner’s symphonies, most of which are heard in new transcriptions for organ performed by Hansjörg Albrecht. This latest album in the edition features Erwin Horn’s transcription of Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony, performed on the organ of the Musikverein in Vienna.

Late in 2014, part of Mozart's manuscript of the Sonata, K. 331 was found in Budapest. The manuscript, with the exception of the last page of the last movement, Rondo alla turca, had so far been considered missing under mysterious circumstances. The new Urtext, according to the pianist's statement, not only contains alterations in the phrase markings, articulation, rhythm and dynamics, but there are some different notes as well. The opening of the second movement is particularly interesting for William Youn: "With the new phrase indication and new note (A instead of C-sharp) in the third bar, I play the entire phrase with a completely different quality, which lends it a different character as well. Bars 24-26 of the same movement have always been played in the minor key up until now - and they are now suddenly in major!"

Born in London in 1886, violinist/violist Rebecca Clarke was also a composer who produced a significant number of works; her songs and chamber music were particularly notable. Although her output became neglected after the Second World War, it experienced a renaissance in the 1970s. The performances on this album take the listener on a journey through the eloquence and profundity of Rebecca Clarke’s creative world. This is OehmsClassics’ second album featuring Judith Ingolfsson (violin, viola) and Vladimir Stoupel (piano), furthering the label’s commitment to presenting musical discoveries.

The debut album Pangea by violinist Lea Bruckner combines the idea of expanding and illuminating the musical diversity of classical music. The selection of works takes the listener on a journey through 9 countries, musical styles such as impressionism, minimalism and jazz influences as well as the influence of folklore on composers.
