Following several exciting and critically acclaimed albums as a Baroque trio, this Amsterdam-based group is now augmented to become a chamber orchestra for the first time, and with a new moniker - Fantasticus XL! Their debut recording as an expanded group features three diverse early concerti that chart the differing forms of French and German forms of this evolving genre. The album consists of one concerto for each original member of the trio: Rie Kimura (Jean-Marie Leclair), Robert Smith (Johann Gottlieb Graun), and Guillermo Brachetta (Wilhelm Freidemann Bach).

The celebrated Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge with director David Skinner, present an enticing recital of sacred choral works by the Italian contemporary composer Claudio Dall'Albero. Drawing on inspiration from earlier forms, polypohny and chant, Dall'Albero's choral works prove at once both powerful and evocative. Included in this programme of world premiere recordings are two works written especially for the Sidney Sussex Choir and for this album.

Internationally acclaimed organist Stephen Farr presents his first J.S. Bach recording with the virtuosic Clavier-�bung III. Containing some of Bach's most stunning work, this collection demonstrates the composer at the height of his powers in composing for the organ, and was one of the few works that Bach had published during his lifetime. Recorded on the Metzler organ of Trinity College, Cambridge, this album follows Farr's contemporary organ recital on the same instrument released on Resonus Classics in 2012. Clavier-�bung III is performed here in it's entirety, complete with the four "Duetti." This recording is the first volume in a projected complete recording of the organ works of J.S. Bach by Stephen Farr.

Renowned British violinist Simon Smith makes his Resonus debut with an extraordinary disc of intensely virtuosic works for unaccompanied violin by two Hungarian composers: the late Sonata for Solo Violin by Bel� Bart�k, and Signs, Games & Messages by living composer Gy�rgy Kurt�g, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday in 2016. The idiomatic and skillful writing for solo violin by both of these composers shows the immense range of this instrument, taking the performer to the edge of what's possible.

Following on from his acclaimed Resonus debut of solo works by Bartok and Kurtag, virtuoso violinist Simon Smith returns to the label with an enticing programme of chamber works for strings by Zoltan Kodaly and Erno Dohnanyi. Joined by colleagues Clare Hayes (violin), Paul Silverthorne (viola) & Katherine Jenkinson (cello), Smith presents three seminal chamber works from the first half of the twentieth century, performed with considerable elan by this exceptional collaboration.

Following their critically acclaimed recording of contemporary carols on Resonus, the Choirs of St. Catharine's College, Cambridge have joined together once more to record portraits of three composers to whom the Choirs of St. Catharine's college have consistently returned - Sally Beamish, Judith Bingham and Joanna Marsh. Containing multiple world premiere recordings, this album showcases the great and diverse wealth of recent, new choral works.

The St Catharine's Girls' Choir, Cambridge, with director Edward Wickham, celebrate ten years since their foundation with this album of works for upper voices. In marking the momentous occasion in 2008 when St Catharine's created the first college-based girls' choir, the current choristers of this acclaimed group present a varied programme of secular works from British composers including Britten, Bennett and a world premiere by Sally Beamish. The St. Catharine's Girls' Choir- the only college-based girls' choir in the UK- was founded in 2008. The choir sings weekly in the College Chapel, as well as giving regular concerts and it's repertoire extends from the early Middle Ages to the twenty-first century, with several works written specially for it. The choir is made up of twenty girls, aged between eight and fifteen, drawn from local schools; and for this recording is augmented by former choristers. The choir has performed in some of the UK's leading venues, and has performed live in Radio 3's The Choir and toured to Poland and Hungary.

Period guitarist James Akers returns to the Resonus Classics label with this programme of Classical works for guitar and piano. Joined by duo partner, fortepianist Gary Branch, this memorable recording presents music written with domestic settings in mind by some of the leading composers of the time, most of whom were resident in Vienna at some point in their lifetimes. Recorded on period instruments, including a rare original 1826 fortepiano by Conrad Graf, this elegant album marks one of the last to be made in Kent’s Finchcocks Musical Museum.

Following on from their critically acclaimed debut album (Metamorphoses: Haydn, Ligeti & Brahms), the Dudok Kwartet Amsterdam returns to the Resonus label with a compelling programme of works around the theme of counterpoint & labyrinth. Alongside the first of Mozart’s “Haydn” Quartets the group presents Gyorgy Ligeti’s complex micropolyphonic second string quartet, while completing the album are musical puzzles in the form of canons by J. S. Bach.

The first of two releases to mark the 150th anniversary of Ralph Vaughan Williams's birth presents two of his major song collections, while bringing to light a substantial number of songs by the composer's student Elizabeth Maconchy. Her works here are almost all unpublished and virtually unknown since their original first performances from manuscript, and span several decades of the composer's career from the time of her studies with Vaughan Williams in the mid-1920s though to her committed espousal of the British modernist aesthetic by the 1960s and 70s. The songs are performed by tenor James Geer and pianist Ronald Woodley in this continuation of their long-standing partnership.

Following their debut album for Resonus Classics, The Choir of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace, with their director Carl Jackson, returns with an album of early-seventeenth century choral works by Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656). Featuring elaborate verse anthems, two settings of the Evensong canticles, and four-part psalm settings, this album reminds us of Tomkins's prominence as one of the greatest Chapel Royal composers of the late English Renaissance. For two centuries from the baptism of Edward VI at Hampton Court in 1537, many of the finest musicians of the inerrant Chapel Royal would have served here. They include Tallis; Byrd who lived a few miles away in Harlington; Morley - sworn and admired a Gentlemen in the Vestry at Hampton Court; Purcell; and also Pelham Humfrey and Blow, both of whom lived nearby in Hampton. Hampton Court Palace ceased to be a royal residence in 1737, and a permanent choir was established in 1868. The 150th anniversary of this event was marked in April 2018. Today, the Hampton Court choir comprises up to eighteen boy choristers drawn from local schools and six adult singers. From the third week in September to the third week in July, it sings two services on Sundays and on various other Holy Days, these being amended by a large, regular congregation of people living in the locality and by the many visitors to the palace. The choir is subject to the jurisdiction of the Lord Chamberlain's Office and of the Dean of HM Chapels Royal, and it participates fully in an ongoing programme of collaborative performances with other choirs of the Chapels Royal.

The Choirs of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, with their director Edward Wickham, have collaborated once again for this album of Renaissance motets and hymns in praise of St Catharine - one of the most ubiquitous and beloved saints of the Middle Ages who also lends her name to the college (founded in 1473) where both groups are resident. This diverse programme spans a century in which the cult of St Catharine was at it's height, representing the prayers and exhortations of pious communities towards a saint who might represent their interests in the court of heaven. St Catharine's College lies at the historic centre of Cambridge and at the heart of the University's distinguished musical tradition. Founded in 1473, there has been a choir associated with the college for over a hundred years. The mixed student choir currently consists of around 24 undergraduate and graduate members, augmented by former choristers from the Girls' Choir; and sings regular services in the college's eighteenth century chapel.

Critically acclaimed Amsterdam-based viola da gamba player, Robert Smith returns to Resonus to present a stunning programme of suites by the French Baroque composer Marin Marais, a prolific writer for the instrument. Selected from across Marais' five volumes of Pieces de Viole, the album presents some of Marais' most striking and characterful works, which are brought sensationally to life by Smith and his outstanding ensemble. Brought together specially for this recording, the group features harpsichordist Olivier Fortin, viola da gamba player Joshua Cheatham, and theorbo player and Baroque guitarist Israel Golani.

Following their acclaimed debut on Resonus Classics, the Berkeley Ensemble release a compilation of works by the 20th-century British composer Lennox Berkeley, one of the two composers (father and son, Lennox and Michael) that give the group it's name. Containing a number of world premiere recordings, the album showcases the huge variety of the different chamber combinations used by Lennox.

Based at Saint Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue in New York, the world renowned Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys - and their acclaimed director John Scott - offer a new recording of Bach's Motets. The choir is considered by major critics to be the outstanding choral ensemble of the Anglican musical tradition in the U.S. today, and one of the finest in the world. Besides offering a full concert series each year, the choir of 16 men and three dozen boys sings at five weekly principal worship services, preparing an astounding 400 pieces of sacred music a year. This album marks the first release in an ongoing relationship with Resonus Classics over the next few years.
