Down a Path of Wonder: Memoirs of Stravinsky, Schoenberg and Other Cultural Figures Hardcover - Robert Craft met Stravinsky by invitation in 1948, after nearly four years of letter correspondence with the composer. It was this close association that steered Craft into a stimulating world of leading composers, writers and artists. At virtually the same time that he became a member of the Stravinsky household, Craft, aged twenty-four, discovered the 'path of wonder' created by Arnold Schoenberg. In 1950, the young conductor sought instruction from Schoenberg in the performance of his music, and maintained a friendship with him that became increasingly cordial until the week of the composer's death a year later. 'Remembering Schoenberg', the first chapter of "Down a Path of Wonder", charts with charm the development of this mutual understanding and friendship. Craft's musical observations are pertinent and witty, and it is music that underpins this collection of memoirs. However, his descriptions of Stravinsky's collaborator-friends, such as George Balanchine, T.S. Eliot, W.H. Auden, Aldous Huxley and other Makers of the Twentieth Century, also provide a fascinating contribution to the intellectual and cultural history of our era. Craft's travel diaries, forming the final part of this book, focus on Italy, Seville and Cambodia; they are similarly insightful, colorful and edifying. "Down a Path of Wonder" is a unique and truly compelling perspective on the post-Second World War artistic world - and beyond.

This 8 CD box set has more than 10 hours of Ben Webster's music including previously unreleased tracks. The sessions were recorded mainly during 1964-1973 in Europe, mostly in Scandinavia, and include live recordings from festivals, clubs and radio and television broadcasts. They feature Webster at Copenhagen's famous Montmartre club and other Danish locations as well as sessions from his renowned month-long residency at London's Ronnie Scott's. Completing the set are recordings from Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Germany and several tracks recorded before he left New York.

"The World She Made Ep" is the third single taken from "Experiments In Ambient Soul". It contains a previously unreleased spiritual ballad "Ocean", which will also be featured on the forthcoming Break'n'Bossa 8 as a different version along with 3 remixes. The two vocal jazz tracks in the album, co-written with Don Freeman, gain new life here courtesy of the work by two among the most stylish producers of the moment: Yam Who? ("The World She Made") and Parov Stelar ("Destination Moon"). The two tracks, originally more ambient, get treated here with a new intriguing production definitely more aimed at the dancefloor. The 12" is completed by a mezzotempo breakbeat house version of "Diamonds & Conforts" produced by Double Beat. Soul hip hop goes 4/4.

This brand new album is therefore a sort of homecoming of Lo Greco to jazz recordings. Reflections reveals a new phase in Lo Greco history, a stage in which maturity becomes the absolute factor. The most they get experienced in music the most they dig and research into past influences. If at the beginning of their career their stylistic mark could be identified in fusion, nowadays, in 2003 Lo Greco decide to start a time-trip to homage some big names of jazz and a fantastic period of (afro) American music. Maturity is therefore the key to read this album, maturity as a particular needing and inspiration. The reference of this music is then coming from late '50 and in particular all the Coltrane works. This is clearly shown in the drum patterns, really influenced from Elvin Jones style (the famous "three in four") to create a spiritual atmosphere and the title itself, "Reflections", is an homage to Davis and Coltrane. The record features great musicians like Marco Bianchi on piano, well known composer and arranger, e Sandro Cerino, a fabulous flute player , but the real surprise is Rosen sax, really relaxed, like searching for a peaceful dimension, for a spiritual highness to permit "Reflections" in the deep of one's mind. Schema is more than ever operating on various fronts, even against mainstream commercial choices, as shown in the years by the release of albums like The Jazz Convention, Quartetto Moderno and Schema Sextet. The voyage into jazz music for Schema is still on.
