A recital disc like this GENUIN release by baritone Christoph Pohl and pianist Tobias Krampen would have been called a “concept record” back in the days of vinyl records. Pohl’s soft, flexible baritone voice is magical, Krampen’s sensitively nuanced pianism beguiling, and the interpretative force of both musicians impressive. On his Genuin CD debut, co-produced with the German Music Council, saxophonist Koryun Asatryan, winner of the 2012 German Music Competition and numerous other competitions plays new contemporary music, including four works by Christian Lauba (b. 1952). Mr. Asatryan is a wanderer between worlds, a juggler who plays with styles and is as much at home in jazz as in classics, a newcomer to whom pieces have already been dedicated (including two world premiere recordings on this CD). Music for saxophone solo and in chamber ensembles, the last work on the CD also contains overtone singing.

Diabelli's popular theme is not only the basis for Beethoven's famous cycle of variations, but also for umpteen variations by Liszt, Schubert, and others. Following up on her acclaimed debut recording, Nami Ejiri opens this release quite simply with this very theme. What follows is high pianism: refined, virtuosic, sensitive. From her grand piano, Nami lures all that which the aforementioned composers do in the variations, all of the things that enchanted Diabelli's contemporaries. The goal and climax are Beethoven's variations, of course, and with all of her talent Nami makes it clear.

Featuring songs by Schumann and Schubert, this new release creates an ethereal, dream-like program. Korean pianist William Younhas been called “a true poet” with “masterful technique.” Multi-award winning soprano Isabelle Catherine Vilmar joins Youn for these recordings.

Images and Mirrors, Works for Cello, Saxophone Quartet and Wind Orchestra is the Saxon Wind Philharmonic’s seventh CD with GENUIN. The ensemble is Germany’s only professional civilian wind orchestra. Featuring works from Hindemith, Gulda, and Villa-Lobos, the album also features a world premiere recording- Bart Picqueur’s Jeu de cartes Suite for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Band.

This recording features rare repertoire performed by the Trombone Unit Hannover. They have won several awards including ARD International Music Competition, the Conn-Lindberg Competition, The Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments, Competition of the Prague Spring International Music Festival and the Deutsche Musikwettbewerb.

Following the much-acclaimed duo album recorded with her husband Jeremy Menuhin, the pianist Mookie Lee-Menuhin is now presenting her debut GENUIN release as a soloist. The musician has put together a subtle programme which is characterized by numerous cross-references: Berg's early sonata op. 1, Schubert's extroverted Sonata in D Major, the Romanian Folk Dances by B�la Bartok, and the world premiere recording of �ric Tanguy's Toccata (2006). The works describe dealing with the past and traditions - and the break with these. Mookie Lee-Menuhin presents all this with a sophisticated sound and a gorgeous pianistic touch - a real success! Born in Seoul, South Korea, Mookie Lee-Menuhin has performed throughout mainland Europe and in Scandinavia, Great Britain and Asia, both as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared in some of the major halls in Europe and Asia, including Geneva's Victoria Hall, the Tonhalle Zurich, and Bern Casino in Switzerland. In 2003 Mookie received the prestigious Augustinus Award and the Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra's International Prize, as well as winning the Yamaha competition in 2002.
