This 2-CD set also features a collection of four complete unedited radio broadcasts made by the hugely popular and successful Glenn Miller Orchestra as their fame continued to reach new heights, and their radio shows attracted massive nation-wide audiences. This set brings together two shows from early January 1940 with two from November of the same year, all from his residencies at the CafA© Rouge at New York City's Hotel Pennsylvania. They have been selected to avoid any song duplications between the programmes, while providing complete shows, with all the announcements and links, capturing the atmosphere and style of the original broadcasts. It is another must for the many avid collectors of Glenn Miller material - the ultimate in '40s wartime nostalgia.

Modern Lore finds Lage playfully flipping the script he followed on his acclaimed 2016 Mack Avenue debut, Arclight. That album — produced, like Modern Lore, by Lage’s friend and collaborator, the singer-songwriter Jesse Harris — was his first trio set on electric guitar and found Lage inspired by the sounds and the attitude of the freewheeling, pre-bebop jazz era, when, as he puts it, “country music and jazz and swing were in this weird wild-west period.” This time he incorporates the sensibility, if not the outright sound, of early rock and roll, a similarly hybrid form driven by rhythm, personality and a passion for the electric guitar.

The Manhattan Transfer/WDR Funkhausorchester - "Fifty" GRAMMY award winning vocal group The Manhattan Transfer celebrate their 50th Anniversary with the new studio album "Fifty". You Smile - The Song Begins is a 1974 studio album by Herb Alpert. It was Alpert's first album for several years, and was arranged by Quincy Jones. The album peaked at 66 on the Billboard 200.

When originally released in 1956, Chet Baker Sings caused some considerable confusion among critics. Was Chet a trumpet player who sang or a singer who played the trumpet? the truth was probably a mixture of both, since he performed both with equal abilities. His reputation had been established as a trumpet player, but from his first vocal session in 1954, he had become noted as a unique vocal talent, one whose low key style provide especially popular with the record buying public.

2016 Grammy® Winner for Best Improvised Jazz Solo on Cherokee. This record is the fruit of McBride's long association with the Vanguard, where his first appearance as a leader for the historic club was in 1995. In 2007, the bassist and charismatic club owner Lorraine Gordon started an annual one-week residency, which featured McBride's quintet, Inside Straight. "Lorraine enjoyed my trio and my quintet, Inside Straight. We had such large crowds, so after a few years with such supportive audiences, we added an extra week. Instead of doing the same band for two weeks, I just started bringing in a different band. This has been an ongoing relationship that I look forward to maintaining as long as I can."

Recorded in 2003, jazz icon George Shearing's latest album "Like Fine Wine" features Shearing in a trio setting with Reggie Schwager on guitar and Neil Swainson on bass. The album is a collection of 14 standards including "You And The Night And The Music" and "Giant Steps." A legend among his peers, Shearing rose to stardom in the 1950s, leading his own groups and recording with such well-known artists as Nat Cole, Nancy Wilson, and Peggy Lee. All Music Guide has noted his career as "one of the longest, most prolific recording careers in jazz."
