Delos is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with GRAMMY® Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer. Famed for it's "accuracy of intonation, purity of blend, of color and swagger of style" (Boston Globe), the group makes it's label debut with Joy to the World. This new Christmas collection blends tradition with innovation, combining Renaissance motets and fresh arrangements of classic carols with contemporary compositions, including two new commissions from Joanna Marsh. Showcasing the ensemble's extraordinary ability to move seamlessly and expertly between styles, Chanticleer's first Delos release conjures a wintertime world of magic, light, and wonder.

Following the huge success of it's first Delos recording ('hallmark powdery blend and intonation so pure' - The New York Times), the GRAMMY Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer, under the leadership of Music Director Tim Keeler, is now turning to fourteenth-century's most celebrated composer Guillaume de Machaut. Although born in obscurity around 1300, Guillaume was to enjoy a stellar career that saw him hold various prestigious positions, including at the Cathedral of Reims. This album presents music from both facets of the composer's life, which today we might see as incompatible. With the Messe de Nostre Dame, we see Machaut the devout cleric of a major cathedral. Conversely, songs such as Douce dame jolie and Riches d'amour, among others, show Machaut the courtly poet-composer who sings of the emotional experience of secular love for his noble patrons.

2018 release. This album takes a look back at Chanticleer's favorite composers and works. It combines pieces from Renaissance and Baroque composers (Lassus, Byrd, Morley, Palestrina etc.) with 20th American works composed or arranged by Stucky, Bates, Gershwin (Summertime) and members of Chanticleer.
