Beautifully recorded in late 2002 in New York's St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Three Guitars is a must-hear summit meeting between three extraordinary fretboard masters: Larry Coryell, Badi Assad - then a rising star of the Brazilian music scene - and John Abercrombie. Despite their differences in age, nationality, genre, gender, and musical sensibility, the three musicians found common ground in what Coryell described as a "unique intersection of creativity." Coryell and Abercrombie, pioneers of electric jazz fusion in the '70s, play steel-stringed acoustic guitars, which contrast with Assad's nylon-stringed classical guitar. The multi-talented Brazilian also contributed vocals and made percussion noises using her mouth and body. Highlights include Coryell's 'No Flight Tonite,' Abercrombie's 'Timeless' and Assad's 'After The Rain.' Available for the first time since 2005, Three Guitars is reissued on 180gram One Step Pressing LP and SACD Hybrid Multi-Channel.

Guitar virtuoso, performer and composer of jazz and jazz- rock. Master of guitar improvisation, known in the jazz world as the "Godfather of Fusion". Larry's highly acclaimed improvised guitar stylings and compositions positioned him as one of the first innovators of the jazz-rock fusion movement in the late 1960's. His world renowned career spanned over 50 years as he improvised his life in music on the road and in the studio. You'll never forget Larry's sound or his personality. A true legend and well established in the history books of jazz music, Larry knew and played with many of the well known jazz and rock greats of the 20th and 21st Centuries such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins, Chico Hamilton, Gary Burton, Chick Corea and Miles Davis. Larry's "Last Swing in Ireland" (SKU: SJPCD641) was his last visit to the Emerald Aisle and he made a lasting impression at Hellfire Studios and The Sugar Club with his favorite Irish rhythm section, Kevin Brady and Dave Redmond in May of 2016. They rock and they swing and everything in between.
We once again hear the one-time associate of Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie and many other superstars in an intimate jazz setting. For this recording he teamed up with two very special companions: Mark Egan, a pupil of the late Jaco Pastorius, and Paul Wertico, praised as an "impressionist painter". 2017 release, the final recording by legendary jazz fusion pioneers Larry Coryell and Alphonse Mouton in the reformed the Eleventh House. The late guitarist Coryell assembled founding members Randy Brecker (trumpet), long-timer John Lee (bass), the addition of son Julian (guitar) and the late Alphonse Mouzon (drums) to bring the rock and funk back to jazz again with a batch of eleven powerhouse tracks. The album is truly a group effort with Coryell relying on each member to contribute compositions to the new album (much like he did back in the 70's).
Larry Coryell returns for his third release on Wide Hive Records in an awesome fashion with one of his greatest albums. "Heavy Feel," which, like many great jazz records, was recorded in one day and the tracks are imbued with the improvisational genius for which Mr. Coryell is known. Aptly titled 'Heavy Feel', the band's sound and daunting guitar play Larry brings are undeniable. Vinyl version!
Coryell made his HighNote debut with this All-Star line-up and pays tribute to the Jazz giants who influenced him and helped him develop his unique Jazz guitar style which has made him the touchstone against which all other Jazz guitarists are measured. With the great John Hicks on piano, saxman Willie Williams, drummer Yoron Israel laying down the foundation and the imaginative bass-ics of Santi Debriano, Larry pours some new wine into the old bottles with innovative takes on classic tunes by Monk, Trane, Miles and, of course, Larry Coryell.
Larry Coryell, along with colleague John McLaughlin, nearly single-handedly redefined the technique and sound of jazz guitar. A true eclectic, armed with a brilliant technique, Larry is comfortable in nearly every style, covering almost every base from the most decibel-heavy, distortion-laden electric work to the most delicate, soothing, intricate lines on acoustic guitar. On this best-of anthology, Coryell's crackling up-tempo bursts and rough-hewn energy give this music a vividness and infectious enthusiasm that should appeal to a wide spectrum of the guitarist's jazz and fusion fans.
