On Sujoud, oud virtuosos Nizar Rohana and Yasamin Shahhosseini bring two distinct musical traditions into intimate conversation. Rooted respectively in Arab (particularly Egyptian and Levantine) and Persian music, their playing moves beyond dialogue toward a shared language: one in which composed structures and spontaneous expression continually meet. Rohana's original compositions and arrangements explore the full sonic range of two ouds, their individual voices remaining unmistakable while intertwining with remarkable sensitivity. Percussionist Ruven Ruppik adds colour, momentum and subtle rhythmic energy, deepening the music without disturbing it's spaciousness. The title Sujoud refers to an act of bowing in awe. Here, it becomes both a gesture of reverence and a symbol of perseverance. Created during years marked by conflict and separation, the album carries a quiet but resolute message of hope. It's music is dedicated to those enduring hardship, especially children searching for a path through darkness. With it's balance of precision and freedom, humility and intensity, Sujoud is a deeply human album: a meeting of traditions, personalities and inner worlds, shaped by attentive listening and mutual trust.

Following the huge success of their award-winning debut release ‘Clychau Dibon’ back in 2013, Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita release their long-awaited second album SOAR. The album takes flight on the wings of the osprey, the magnificent bird of prey recently returned to Wales after centuries of absence, which makes its annual 3,000 mile migration from the coasts of West Africa to the estuaries of Wales, soaring like music and dreams over man-made borders, on its innate and epic journey of endurance. Drawing deep on their own diverse traditions and transforming them with remarkable synergy, audiences the world over have been captivated by Catrin and Seckou’s exhilarating live performances. Entrancing, mesmeric, intricate and ethereal, this is remarkable music. “A sublime duo of two artists who are masters of their instruments… musicality and architecture at work.” (Simon Broughton, London Evening Standard)

They made history by being the first steelband to be invited to play at the 1990 BBC Proms and to represent Britain at the 1990 World Steelband Music Festival in Trinidad and Tobago.
Folk songs are the songs of the people. From ancient times to the present, regardless of location, each era will inevitably produce a unique historical story, due to differences in culture, language, and religion. Most Chinese love songs are about human emotions and reflect the culture and tradition. In a conservative culture with generational differences, true love was not always easy nor always had a happy ending. Sometimes young lovers needed to fight their way through. This release is a stunning collection of Chinese love songs, including well-known traditional folk tunes and new compositions based on famous poems from dynasty poets. The works are performed by the renowned Heart of the Dragon Ensemble and played on traditional instruments with both male and female voices.
Traditional Mexican music is explored on this new release from ARC Music. Featuring folk songs, a capella multi-part singing, and Mariachi music, the works on this album are lively and festive. Booklet notes on each of the songs are included.
In the tradition of the West Africa griots and the ancient Greek epic poets / storytellers, calypso music has long provided a form of social commentary for the Trinidadian and Tobagonian peoples. • Originating from the kaiso music of Western Africa and evolving with various influences over time, calypso is to Trinidad and Tobago as reggae is to Jamaica and samba is to Brazil. • Despite tackling often-serious subject matter, a calypsonian conveys it all in a humorous – sometimes bawdy – but always inherently enjoyable manner. • This collection highlights a selection of classic and modern calypsos.
