Ohio native Jeff Williams cut his teeth playing with the likes of Stan Getz and Dave Liebman in the febrile atmosphere of 1970s New York, but London is now his second home and his free-ranging creativity both as drummer and as composer, coupled with his dedication as a teacher and bearer of the tradition, has embedded him deep into the UK scene. This recording features an all-star cast of his longtime collaborators, with altoist John O'Gallagher and Josh Arcoleo on tenor making a ferocious twin-horn frontline and virtuoso bassist Sam Lasserson completing the rhythm section. With all the compelling immediacy of a live concert recording, 'Road Tales' documents how the shared experiences of being a band on the road for a decade or so has shaped a musical narrative, as each member tells the story of those experiences, and shows how they established their own identity within the compositions. Tani Tabbal is known for his extensive performing and recording career with Roscoe Mitchell, Geri Allen, James Carter, David Murray, Sun Ra, and Faruq Z. Bey / Griot Galaxy. Following a series of self-released recordings over the past decade (including two by this trio), Now Then will be his first internationally distributed work as a leader. Tabbal-who came of age on Detroit's fertile jazz scene-has always looked for colleagues with fresh ideas, big ears, and adventurous souls. He found them again in veteran bassist Michael Bisio and next generation alto saxophonist Adam Siegel. Now Then is an exceptional album of charismatic communications by three musicians who breathe as one. The compositions-six by Tabbal, four by Bisio-define specific materials and moods that the trio develops with patience and a subtle variety of textures and dynamics. Melodic riches abound, wielded with both controlled fire & giving tenderness, while the joy of prolific communication and illuminated creation permeates the album. It's a rare beauty! 642623800324 TAOF3.2 41091838 10.09 14.98 .12 TAO FORMS COMPACT DISCS POP JAZZ 11/20/2020 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/48/3878548-2632927.jpg 21 1 N BEATS ON BOAT 1 / VARIOUS BEATS ON BOAT 1 / VARIOUS 4251804123617 ESIG2.1 41097076 28.59 36.98 1.00 EAR SIGHT VINYL LP POP ELECTRONIC V/A COMPILATIONS 01/15/2021 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/97/3878997-2632658.jpg 0 2 N PERRY,LEE SCRATCH LEE SCRATCH PERRY MEETS DANIEL BOYLE TO DRIVE DUB 5051142007162 UPTT6.1 41097403 28.49 40.98 .63 UPSETTER VINYL LP POP INT'L & WORLD MUSIC 11/06/2020 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/35/3879035-2632678.jpg 0 1 N SHE & HIM VERY SHE & HIM CHRISTMAS 5034202305569 DMNO0230556.2 20999285 14.43 22.99 .20 DOMINO RECORDS UK COMPACT DISCS POP CHRISTMAS / CHANUKKAH 12/03/2012 https://media.aent-m.com/graphics/items/sdimages/c/500/9/2/1/2/2402129.jpg 0 2 N DA VIOLA,PAULINHO PRISMA LUMINOSO 825646536689 WEAB4653668.2 20202668 8.11 12.99 .20 WEA BRAZIL COMPACT DISCS POP INT'L & WORLD MUSIC BRAZILIAN 03/12/2013 https://media.aent-m.com/graphics/items/sdimages/a/500/3/4/3/2/2402343.jpg 0 1 N HONEY / HONEY 2 HONEY / HONEY 2 Originally released in 2003. 5050582863925 AISR8286392BR 16302365 27.35 39.99 .21 AIS BLU-RAY MOVIE DRAMA 01/10/2012 https://media.aent-m.com/graphics/items/sdimages/a/500/2/7/5/2/2402572.jpg 0 2 N PILATES BODY BAND WORKOUT PILATES BODY BAND WORKOUT 018713518774 GAIM51877DVD 23880429 14.62 15.99 .16 GAIAM MOD DIGITAL VIDEO DISC MOVIE FITNESS/SELF-HELP 11/19/2013 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/17/2060617-3635202.jpg 0 1 N SLIM & SCULPT-FIRM SLIM & SCULPT-FIRM This 30-minute total body workout specifically targets your core muscles abdominals, lower back and hips so you get lean from the inside out! With them at his side he has created an open-minded new work, which should delight fans of rich and diverse sounds everywhere. Those working at the frontiers of their art don't care about traditional genre barriers and in titles like " Exiting Purgatory", written in an intricate 7/8, the tender and melodic "Eva", the meditative " Shavasana " and " Moroccan roll " reminiscent of Weather Report's World Jazz, he has transcended all style barriers. What is special with this album is that he doesn't just stop at the mere crossover of time signatures, close together, sometimes wide apart, it's the combination of modern jazz, electronica, acoustic folk, contemporary classical and world music combined " ad hoc" style that leads to something entirely new. There isn't yet an appropriate genre term for such a symbiosis, it's yet to be coined, any suggestions anyone'
